Well, our house is finally going on the market. Staging is more or less complete (complete enough for our agent to take photos and get it listed, at least). Hopefully it won't take too long to sell - we have a lot of reasons to be optimistic about this. The bigger question mark is how long it will take to find the ideal house, where game room is the #1 requirement.

Getting our house de-cluttered was a massive undertaking, and took a lot of time. It's been a lot of late nights and feeling exhausted for the last week in which we did the bulk of the work. I celebrated by finally installing my D2K kit. :D

Here's our stuffed garage. Fortunately we didn't have to rent storage, but there is barely any room to pull my car in, and the entire right side is packed tight! At least I have access to all my arcade games by pulling the car out! :thrasher:

Yep, I'd say your garage is stuffed! Nice Mustang, btw - 65 or 66? Good luck on your sale, and best of luck with your future gameroom. Are you looking for a house with a huge basement, or just an extra "bonus" room?

Thanks. It's a 66. Ideally hoping for a daylight basement, and hoping for at least 750 sq ft of game room space. Places like that aren't exactly plentiful in the Portland area, but they are out there.

good luck on the new house! we've been looking, but still have to list our house and yada yada yada. hopefully the houses we've fallen in love with are still around if/when our present place sells. that way, my no more game restriction will get lifted when i have a nice big basement.

I've heard that house prices in Portland are declining at a rapid rate. Among the fastest rates of decline in the entire country. Aren't you going to lose your shirt in the sale? I guess if you're moving to something comparable in the same area it all evens out though.

I don't think that's true. We're upgrading as well, and more of the decline has happened in the price range we're looking to buy into, vs. our current house. But even if it was the same percentage wise, we'll end up ahead dollar wise because we're upgrading.

We bought our current house (our 1st) 12 years ago so we're so far ahead of what we paid that the recent decline isn't a big deal to us.

We got an offer last night, and it is within range of what we were hoping for. So hopefully we can work out all the details and get it to close. Now we need to get serious about finding our next house!!! Can't wait to move the games into the future game room!

Needless to say, we're very excited!

Congradulations on the offer. I bet that feels good. I hope to be doing something similar in a few years too. Except I will be moving to a different state.

We counter-offered and it was accepted today (more money = even happier). So we're officially "pending" now. Quite possibly we'll be in an apartment for a while while we look for the perfect house, so I might have to store all the games except the mame cab, and perhaps the DK if I'm lucky. Small price to pay though.

The one thing about it that may suck is I have directv/sunday ticket so I don't know how likely it is we'll be able to find a place where we can continue that.

wow congrats, shanman. So how long has the house been for sale before you got the offer you liked? Was it your first post on this thread? Man that was just over a month ago, very nice! Why don't you buy the house across from me all the way down here in Jefferson? That way I can walk across the street to play your games.

Less than 6 weeks on the market. Not bad, huh? While I'd love to meet you one day, I don't want to meet you that badly. ;) A little to far away from work!
