First shots of Tron pIn:

So do people REALLY pay .75 to 2 bucks these days to play ONE GAME of pinball??!!! I must be older than I thought I was.

$2 bucks is for 3 games ;)
Don't start me on the "Is $2 really a viable amount to charge people".
People have their breaking point and if you get above that .75 a game mark I think that'll deter people.

I am dying to know.....please help....

Can anyone tell me if the Arcade figure above the slot hole is an exact Tron replica cab or is it generic cab? Hard for me to tell.

i'm kinda thinking it might be similair to the arcade toy from the target tron legacy 2-packs??

Biiiiiig disappointment to me.

I don't feel bad knowing I can't afford a NIB one now.

They could have made this machine so cool, but instead it is nothing but a bunch of screenshots from the movie plastered on the game. It should have had a complete red/black theme, and switched in between red/blue lights. It has way too much color in it for a proper tron pin.

I'll look for one in the arcade when it comes out, but I'll probably never want to own one.

wow. just......wow. mere hours after a single playfield pic is released and it's a "biiiiiig (sic) disappointment."

k.

EL wire would not be a great idea for pins on location. EL wire goes dim over time. If the EL wire effect is meant to be on constantly it would only be half as bright in 6 months or less. I imagine the EL wire would not be easy to swap out like a light bulb is. In a home environment where the machine is turned off it would probably be fine.

I think it looks great! It's certainly way better than any of Stern's recent games, and I would imagine the LE version is going to be even cooler. That being said, I don't get Stern's love affair with the motorized 3-bank target assemblies. Did they buy like 20,000 of them on closeout?

At the very least, it could illuminate during multiball. If the game has no EL wire whatsoever, it will be a huge missed opportunity in my eyes.

I'm not even worried about the wire. They missed big time on the entire look of the game.

So much could have been done with some simple Red/Blue LED's placed in the right spots, and sticking with the black/red/blue color scheme. Instead, they have tons of yellow all over the place (WTF?) and the playfield is nothing but screenshots. The playfield inserts are all red/yellow/whatever and random instead of being uniform and helping with the look.

The backglass doesn't even look cool. It would have looked better with a big recognizer or something up there.

This machine might play well, but from a visual standpoint, it is a huge failure IMO.

Red? there was no red in the entire film, unless you are referring to the original Tron?
There was only a Orange, yellow, and blue theme in Tron Legacy.

Well, yeah it is kind of an orageish color - but in general there are "red" and "blue" in Tron.

yeah...the new film was blues, orange-ish yellow, black and almost gray-ish overall look, etc. the red vs. blue thing was original TRON.

some people are never gonna be satisfied and some folks are never gonna like STERN pins overall.

personally, i'm majorly psyched about owning my first ever NIB pin....with an awesome theme to boot. :)

fwiw, i like the look of the pin.....looks like it could be pretty flow-y.....and i can't imagine them using a different image for the backglass. that's perfect. sums up the film quite nicely and it's pretty much become THE iconic image of the movie. bet it looks awesome in 3D. :)

+1 I can here it now as soon as you turn the machine on.... "the grid.........

There is always going to be the "could have been better" sentiment no matter what is released. It all comes down to price.

I currently have no pins and have wanted one for a while. I couldn't decide on what I wanted and what I could afford.

I've played several Sterns and I like some more than others, but all have been fun for me. Although I don't like the Rolling Stones much, the game looks great and I enjoy playing it.

With Tron, I think it looks great, the sound should be killer and this could be my only NIB purchase ever. I'll play it before I commit though. Just have to find a way to justify spending 4K to my wife. I have a feeling I'll have to sell most of the vids I have to do it. - Barry

I think it looks fantastic and I'm hoping the LE incorporates EL wire and/or neon in there somewhere. For this theme, the look and play are important but they can put it over the top with the sounds. If they pick good Daft Punk music from the movie and use it well, this thing will rock balls. Some good speakers cranked up will be a must for this game. I can't wait to see what the LE will contain.

The gameplay will be incredible. The layout is identical (nearly) to Funhouse - fast play, whipping balls around that third flipper shot will melt your heart. Bumpers up the right side through and around to the third flipper also makes for some great flow.

In addition to the mirror of Funhouse (even right down to the ball lock lane right next to the left ramp and orbit) you have the center shot. This is rudys replacement - hopefully its a cool enough toy as the game is really missing a lot of them. The only thing missing from Funhouse besides rudy is the second plunger, but that was never a big driver of fun on Funhouse anyway.

For the lack of toys - it will be made up by the layout alone + the expected software.

I am very excited for this one.
