well its about dang time lol.. a champ sprint and lethal enforcers popped up on craigslist. "non working no cords???"

so i get there, games are ok, better than i expected. did a quick peek to make sure boards were there, champ sprint even came with a spare top board.

so i pay the guy, we haul em to the truck.. get em home, open up champ sprint.. OH theres the power cord laying in the bottom of the cab LOL...

so i put it back where it goes and fire it up.. raster but no pic no boot. wiggle connectors, when i wiggle the power connector on the bottom board, trumpet type sounds?? no effing way! the damn thing works!!! med res 4900???? series monitor and all!!(and syncing!!) must be cold solder or somthing on the pcbs i will dig into that later.

lethal enforcers has 2 power cords laying in the bottom, theyre pc type lol.. so much for no cords on these machines.
A switcher is hacked onto the wiring off of the original power supply.. totally dead no monitor no marquee no pcbs lit up nothing no power..

they are using the old switchers "back switch" ac input/output wires to power the new switcher and the rest of the cab as well.... so im willing to bet ive got no ac out of the old switcher or lets hope so. the "new" switcher shows a tag with "replaced qxxx qxxx cxxx cxxx cxxx cxxx cxxx cxxx 10/95" LOL so its a hacked(1) hacked(2) dead power setup.. :D

now lethan enforcers works but the sound is humming and quiet... can berely hear the proper sounds but they are there...

one look at the konami sound chip, its got bad caps man like bad... youll be seeing me in the repair section soon...

nice pick up bro, I was waiting for the pics to confirm it actually happened. ;)

Nice score. Champ Sprint is one I regret selling way back when and badly want back in my collection eventually.

These Atari System II games are usually pretty reliable from what I've seen except (correct me if I'm wrong, haven't dicked with one in a while) for overheat on the +5V line to the video PCB header and resulting header damage. Think typical proper fix is too beef up the +5V line and replace the header?

yeah i will have to see how bad it is. I may just find a big spot in the trace and solder on a wire, hook it up directly with a dual spade terminal so it can still be removed and serviced in the future. we shall see, depends on how bad it is.

i think im going to focus on le for now, thats the one i will probhably end up selling soon.
