Hello,

I recently acquired my first machine, it's a gotleib Tee'd off.. Let me start by saying, I hope by posting in here about it doesn't start a ruckus like it did on another site.

My questions

Recommended ways to clean the game play area and the outside areas.

Any particular quirks or known issues with this game?

Sorry for the dumb questions but this is my first machine.

Thanks in advance,
James

Welcome to your new addiction.

I saw both threads. Don't let someone who got their knickers in a wad ruin your enjoyment of your new machine, especially when you did nothing wrong. :)

Thanks Usagi... After reading the posts that others linked there, Just felt like there's a bunch of sour milk over this... Would just prefer not to be around the hostility.. I'm looking for others that enjoy this hobby, have convos about it and maybe shed some knowledge and insight to this hobby..

Damn... now I'm curious what the hell happened :p

BTW, welcome to the forums!

Someone posted on CL selling a machine. Some guy from 4+ hours away wanted to get the machine and got upset the seller sold it before he could get there.

The moral of the story: stop perusing CL ads from a bizillion miles away. A lot of these buyers don't realize that when you list something on CL it's standard procedure to have a ton of no-shows. Unless you make it precisely clear to the seller the deal is done, don't get upset if whoever shows up with cash first gets it.

The exception of course, is if I want your machine and I'm 8 hours away, then you are obligated to hold it until I get there... just sayin'

A modern game like that can be cleaned with some mild cleaner - just don't get it too wet - just a light spray and wipe with something like Simple Green - you could use Novus 2 - that's the cleaner everyone uses but it's special order. You can also wax the playfield to make it faster. Always put new balls in a machine (1 1/6").

Rule #1: If you're new to pinball, do not mess around with the insides of the machine with the power on. If you lift up the playfield, do so with the power off.

If you get frustrated, feel free to sell me the machine. I'll give you $200 more than what you paid for it. ; )

Aahhh... that makes sense. Sounds like something that could insite some flames.

Hard to blame the buyer, unless they offered more or something but even then I can't say I wouldn't try it in the right circumstances.

Congrats!

I think the first guy was blowing off steam regarding the seller not you. Its totally the sellers fault.

Welcome! Enjoy your first game!

Clean the outside with a solution of SIMPLE green and water (not mean green). That is what I do anyway and it works great. As for the playfield clean it with Novus 1 and 2. Then wax with a high quality carbona wax like "mothers" brand.

My last tip (because Im pretty much a rookie to.) if you take anything apart take plenty of pictures so you can figure out how to put it back together.

Thanks everyone.. I would have replied earlier but yesterday I ended up playing it till it was time for work. Got up this morning and went at it again.. ;)

I ordered some novus 1 & 2 today along with new pinballs. After work tonight I'll stop by Wal mart and see if they have some simple green. The outside isn't too dirty but I'd like to see if it will clean up even more..
