Thanks to a member on here ( GA gamer), I just picked up my first pin!!! Man am I stoked. I have been looking for one of these for a looooong time. Whenever one came up it was either a bad time or it was a wreck!

Lets start with the good! The playfield has wear in some spots but lets be realistic. I am going to play it, I don't need a show piece!!! Back glass is in amazing condition. The pop bumper and sling shots now work. The GI looks good, all in all a pretty sound machine.

The Bad, the back box was crushed at one point. It has L Brackets holding the sides together. Oh well, when I back it up to the wall you won't ever be able to tell. Other than a burnt coil, blown transistor, and a few blown fuses, a bunch of screws that were missing… it isn't bad for a 1986 serial number 541 I think? I forget what number exactly but it is pretty low considering the #'s they made of these.

Truly stoked about the purchase and even the wife played a few games with me! Good weekend I'd say!!!

On a different note, where do you guys get your pin parts? I need to pickup a few transistors, bulbs, rubber kit, flipper rebuilds, Novus etc. Was hoping to get it all one stop shopping kind of thing.

Well, that's all for now. Thanks for looking :)

Russ, I am in central Jersey. Point Pleasant.

OK, that's about an hour dead north up the GSP.

Too far for a casual stop-by, but feel free to give me a shout if you need any help with your pinball machine.

I'll PM my contact info.

Are you coming to Allentown Pinfest? It's weekend of Nov 13 2010.

Oh yeah, I have been down to Galloway. Smithville is a nice place to grab a bite to eat and walk around.

I'll PM you back with my info too. Can't have too many eyes and ears on a problem!

Not sure about the Allentown Pinfest. Haven't read too much about it. Is it at someone's house or it is an auction type thing? ... I will have to read up on that.

Not at someone's house or an auction.

It's a pinball show:

http://www.pinfestival.com/

Lots of games on Free Play and dealers with parts, machines for sale, other stuff.

Not as big as Allentown Pinball Wizards Show in the spring but should be good.

Oh man that looks pretty cool! I was going to put an order in for a bunch of parts but... If i can just go and pick them up at the show that would be even easier!!!

You scored!!!

Very nice High Speed you have there. I recommend some Super Bright LED's for the backglass from CoinTaker, I recieved some Super cool and warm Super Brights and they look just like the reg. bulbs but brighter without the direct beam, these really have a nice spread with no direct beam of light like the 3-Led's I tried. Pulling the playfield out is better to work on it, but watch for the plastics, ramps, etc. and use pillows. With the playfield out you can flip it over and switch adjustment/cleaning, bumper, sling, flipper is easier. I finally had a chance to meet someone in my community that has a High Speed, he use to be an operator back in the day and kept 1 for himself, well he came over and showed me everything about the HS and pulling the playfield out I was not comfortable with but he said this is what you do to work on it and just be careful (maybe this is why so many ramps are cracked, stop lights broke, plastics chipped or broken) You think Williams would have had a better solution then just pulling it out without any kind of support brackets no nothing, I just used pillows.I dont recommend you doing it by yourself, the PF is heavy 2 people is safer, be careful not to crush the stop light or ramps when you flip it over. Once its flipped over and the other person holds the PF from sliding (or disconnect plugs and find other solution/area, but sometimes it's not as easy to do, so flip it on the cabinet rails) it is SO MUCH easier to make them adjustments or what ever it alot simple then looking at it with the PF just lifted up against the backglass. Anyways congrats. on your purchase you got a top 50 ever pinball machine, that ranks higher then alot of the newer $4000 dollar machines, consider it a steal you got. If you need some quick help and you dont have a manual, or general questions on High Speed let me know and I will contact my friend that came over to help me with my HS and got it working 110%, and saved me $200 service call from the Tech. at a shop in town. I flipped him a $20 for gas and bought the guy some lunch. He said anytime I need help call and he would come right over and fix it or answer any questions I have. He also gave me a manual, as I did not have the book, I do have it downloaded on my computer, the book is just better. Sorry for the ramble just get excited, love pinball first, but HS just has that "remember when, and where feeling", As I played this all the time as a Teen in 1986 they were everywhere to play. To own one now ( 2 years now) is just Awesome. Enjoy

I just responded on another thread of yours before seeing your post here!

Do you have any pictures? I am going to be tearing the playfield down to give it a thorough shopping, but and thinking I want to make the switch to LEDs in order to reduce the strain on the circuits.

Thanks again for the great response. I agree, this pin brings back a lot of memories. Even though it is only a 3 ball multiball, I have a blast with it.

3-ball multi-ball is plenty to have fun. Since your "tearing down" do yourself a favor and check out this guys complete tear down of the High-Speed >>http://www.theteardown.com/gallery/details.php?image_id=653 Hope this helped some, I'am sure it did? It helped me BigTime!
