After about 45 days of scouring CL hourly and checking multiple forums I finally found my first pin. I picked up a really nice STTNG from a local collector. I brought it home last night and tonight my wife was already out in the garage playing it by herself so I think I have a hit.

Congrats!!! Just remember, there will be more........

Anyone I know who has bought *one*, always finds a second or more.

Great first pin and looks to be in great shape. Now - how much was it?

Love that Philco restoration too. That "tiger stripe wood" looks great before finishing!

looking for a first pin, grabbed a sttng off cl in 45 days and the wife is playing it alone.

Congrats! Great score!

Enjoy the victory, those don't happen often.

Actually CL has been a complete bust. I found the game from a local collector posting on RGP. He was very cool about everything. Spend a couple hours at his house while he showed me the game inside and out. Showed me everything he has ever done to the machine, even showed me how all the menus work, how to test stuff, etc.

As for price, lets just say I think I got a great price on it. The machine was nice enough that I had no problem paying him his asking price for it. I have spent the last month trying to beat up a local operator on his prices but there was a different quality between his machines and this one. As soon as I saw it I knew I found my first.

Congrats! What's the next one on the list?

I had thought I was going to stop at 1.... LOL

Next on the list is probably going to be a Scared Stiff, Simpsons Pinball Party, or White Water. It definitely wont be until after the new year.

If you do not get one soon, "Q" will make fun of you. Get TSPP!!

I have an ST:TNG in my shop right now, doing repairs for a local op. man, it's a fun game and has an excellent sound system. Congrats!!

Chris

Was that Matt's?
I really wanted that game but couldn't scrape up the cash
Yep, it was. I saw Matt's ad too and passed it along to someone closer for the same reasons. He put a lot of work and new parts into that ST:TNG and the price was more than fair.

Congrats on a great 1st pin and a great deal!

Yes it was Matt's machine. He was a real standup guy. It was my first real interaction with the pin community and it was excellent. He really went over everything about the machine with me which was great. I was even more amazed when I got it home in my garage and got to see it in a lot more light. The cabinet is in great shape.

Been playing the hell out of it and my wife has been playing with AND without me. That was a huge bonus because I had no idea how she was going to be about it. She had no problems with me buying it but I wasn't sure if she would get into it with me. Looks like i'm good to go!

Great looking machine. I'm not really a Star Trek fan, but this machine seems to have a pretty strong following. I hope I can find one to play at a show or something someday.

Regarding wives and others playing pins... I also discovered that my pins are a hit with people that won't touch the video games. I think they're less intimidating to women and men that aren't gamers.

My wife has been a computer gamer all her life. Its arcade stuff, darts, pool, etc that she shied away from so I wasn't sure about pinball. Its all good though.

Wow, you're in big trouble. Pinballs machines tend to multiply and your wife is receptive.

Last night, my wife was completely unaware that I picked up a Baby Pac (it's better that way, trust me) but I'm unable to get it into the basement discretely so it stayed in the garage, out of the rain. BUT, in the morning, I quickly dolly-ed it around my house and hid it just behind my fence door until she left for work then dragged it downstairs while she was gone. Mission accomplished!

She doesn't share my enthusiasm for the hobby. She avoids them. *sigh*. But it keeps me in check. You might be in BIG trouble ... or heaven.

Thats so frikkin' funny... I did that with motorcycles at one time. I didn't avoid telling my wife about them, I just bought them and didn't tell her about them. ;)
I had 6 bikes at one time. We were living in an apartment so storage got to be a pain in the ass. I ended up selling most of them off.

I'm down to one now, but always looking.

Awesome game man.. Congrats! Be sure to read the manual good for all of it's little hidden scoreing features and easter eggs so you can make sure you stay at the top of the leader board.

"Thank you Mr. Data!" :wink2:
