First pickup of the year! Asteroids Deluxe cabaret

I got my first game of the year today. I picked up an Asteroids Deluxe cabaret from a local SMAC member. The cabinet is in great shape but it does need an overlay badly. I replaced the power cord when I got home and plugged it in. I got a loud buzzing noise and no led on the pcb. I think the edge connector was a tad loose as now r25 on the ar is burnt. Upon further inspection the edge connector is about done. Some of the pins are barely making contact. I'll replace the edge connector and R25 on the AR this week and see where I'm at. - Barry

Nice machine. Your CPO doesn't look too bad either on the art side of it."

Nice machine Barry!! I just got one of those in December.. Mine has a brand new overlay on it and it makes a huge difference.. I have a extra screened overlay that Im not using...:)

Barry, was that the one listed a day or so ago for $500? I thought about that one. I thought it was "working"?

Nice, an Asteroids Deluxe cabaret was my last pick up of 2011.

Yours looks to be in pretty good shape. Luckily my sides are in really great shape too but the back door is swelled up but that is an easy fix.

No, this was from a collector who I've been trying to get it from since June. Great guy and a much better price than $500. This is mostly working, just a few things to take care of. - Barry

That one has been listed on and off for months. It isn't worth $500. You can see in the photo that there's no overlay on the panel, it's either bare metal or covered in gray primer.

Cab looks solid, that's going to be real nice with a little work.

These have been popping up all over the place recently. But not a single Asteroids cabaret.

Ordered parts today so I can...

replace the edge connector
rebuild the AR
replace the fuseholder
replace the big blue
replace buttons
new locks
recap the pcb

I also have a new screened overlay coming from DJW90. I will order new T-molding at some point. I'm thinking of either black, dark blue or light blue... thoughts? - Barry

nice cabinet. post some pics once you're done with the repairs.

i will say, i'm surprised they didn't use an over/under door on that. the full size coin door looks huge on that.

Let me know how the overlay works out. Mine had pre-cut holes for the buttons, but they didn't quite line up with the holes right.

I'm torn between custom and faithful on mine. I think it'd look sweet with white sides, blue trim, and the repro cabaret side art.

The woodgrain sides are almost perfect on mine so I'll leave that alone. The front black panel has 4 small holes where an id tag was an a small oval tag still on it. I may just black formica the front. The t-molding is the only area I'd be different thank stock. I'm thinking blue would bring out the blue in the marquee. - Barry
