First pick up this year

Game pops up this summer on FB marketplace, 10 minutes away. I'm on it, a couple hundred for a cleanish original non working Asteroids is a steal nowadays. She says she doesn't want someone to buy a broken game and tells me someone is coming to look at it... Well that's over... I told her I collect and broken is fine, let me know.. nothing.
Out of the blue months later she is gonna relist it and reaches out. I'm in!

Plays blind, has neck glow and spot killer on. Get it home and no x out. Got help replacing a few chips in the xy and it works! Control panel art was half gone and painted over, put on a cpo and new leaf buttons. Found an original coin box with lid, 2 new bayonet bulbs in the door. Other than that I believe it's stock. Oldest game I've owned. And the deep sounds this puts out is amazing!

I haven't played this in an arcade cabinet since I was like 8. Man this game is hard, and hard on your wrists I watched the video of the end of Johnny setting the 58 hr WR in 2010.. absolute insanity. I don't know if it's a keeper or not but she's a classic, and now I've got Asteroids!

I'm almost at 10k after a dozen games, but.. not being able to turn unless you're pressing thrust is messing with my head. I literally haven't pressed hyperspace yet .

It is bad.. I'll get it, just blinded by the bright sexy vector lights! For 1979? The game looks so freaking sharp!

Adding a subwoofer makes asteriods really rumble. Not a good thing if your sharing walls or floors with neighbors.

Yes!!!! Love, love, love my table top Asteroids. My good friend brought his niece over to play at the arcade, and after many many games, she got tired of entering her REAL initials…. So just randomly typed in some letters…. LOL…. Just like Samuel Jackson's wallet says in Pulp Ficton. Bad Mother F'er. We laughed so hard, and she was so confused.
