Got a cyclone this weekend, average shape but had full mylar. used the freeze method and literally the entire thing pulled up in less than a minute.

Now, the entire playfield has glue on it. Goo gone didnt even make a dent. I guess I'll just keep upping the ante on ahesive removers until something does the trick.

Anyone else encounter similar situation?

I had great results with goo-gone and naptha (not at the same time)

i have never pulled mylar off but i have removed many many sticky substances from all kinds of things and i have always had TROUBLE with GOOF OFF.........GOO GONE is awesome and great at the same time.....but GOOF OFF is soo strong it has ruined many different surfaces that i put it on (non pinball) i have had such bad luck with goof off i would never take it near a pinball machine.

im just saying be careful if your thinking of trying it

I have done Black Knight, F-14 Tomcat, and a High Speed. Used the freeze spray on all three.

To remove the glue, I used goo gone. What I do is take a small rag and fold it into a 3" or 4" square. Then I soak it in goo gone and let it sit on the playfield in a spot. This basically softens the glue.

After a few minutes, you can rub at it and it will come off. It takes a bit of work but it will come off. I usually use a single finger with a rag around it. I have had some success using a dry rag after the goo gone rag had soaked in a bit. I think the rough texture of the rag helps grab the mylar glue.

The high speed was the worst. I got quite a few blisters but got it all off eventually.

Goo Gone works, but it's not magic. It takes hours to get all that adhesive crap off the playfield. You could experiment with stronger solvents, but it only takes one screw-up to hose your playfield for good.

I've used the freeze spray method (it's like MAGIC) to get off mylar, and had good success with goo gone for the aftermath. I guess I got lucky.

I use Naptha. Its more difficult to work with but I think I get better results using it.

Naphtha / lighter fluid (same thing) and an old credit card or pop sickle stick. The only adhesive this had problems with was adhesive under the factory slingshot mylar on my High Speed. For that one instance I used a citrus based cleaner.
