Hey everyone,

Im a new member and just got my first machine last week. I always wanted one as a kid, so bought one. Pretty sure others have similar stories.

Did some reading this past week on the forum and learned alot. Just want to make sure now about what I have, from what i read. I want to restore this machine back to original.

I bought a machine with a z back design, its black and red. Has a 25 inch monitor. It has street fighter 2 world warrior. Has the correct marquee and bezel. Not sure about the control overlay though. Not even sure if these are repro or original. The guy said they were OG but he was a bit unsure as well.

Everything works, just has to fix the coin mechanisms by cleaning some of the contacts. Got the machine for $450

I read that world warrior didn't have a dedicated cabinet, and people aren't 100 percent sure about some aspect of the machine since they came in kits. I also read that world warrior didn't even really come in 25 inch.

Now for my questions I need help on :

Is the control overlay original or one of the originals? I never seen this on any other machine ive seen online.

Did this machine ever come in 25", ive read things about it being only in 19 originally.

Is the cabinet era/model correct for sf2 world warrior?

Was $450 a good price??? It seemed a little high to me, but I wanted it bad, and other machine on craigslist that were in worse condition were going for $600. There were conversion that looked horrible for $250.

What do you think I need to do to make it as original as possible???

Thanks guys. this seem to be a very informative site. But very addicting. Im glad these machines are so heavy, and I dont own a truck. If so , Id be in trouble.... lol

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Welcome to the board soulific. SF2:WW was my first game as well, in a really crappy Double Dragon converted cab. I'd say if you had to pick a conversion, you did right by the Z-back.

As you said, SF2 was a kit game so there's no real "true" cabinet or monitor size for it. The only thing I spot on yours is that it has the SF2 Champion Edition control panel overlay instead of the WW overlay (which was the really gaudy 90's one that says Street Fighter II towards the bottom).

As for price, are you happy with the price? If so, who cares what other think? Have fun playing it and welcome to the hobby.

I'd say it was a decent price. I got mine with a few minor issues (buttons/coin mechs not working) in a package deal from a couple that was moving the next day for $75. That being said, when I go to sell it, I'll ask right around what you paid.

That CPO looks nothing like mine, but mine is in a Dynamo cut corner. I'm 95% sure mine is an original CPO for WW (it matches the bezel):

Thanks guys. I had a feeling that control overlay was off. Also I dont even think its a CE edition one. Is has the same cement print pattern but the graphics dont match with what I seen online. I think im going to change the overlay to the correct world warrior one.

as far as being dedicated you made a good choice with this Dynamo HS-5 cab. Most street fighter 2 kits were installed on dynamo cabs and you pretty much got the best of best when it comes to Dynamo's I would say. the Z-Back is the nicest I think. you got the slide out drawer in that cab?

the control panel overlay looks like the generic Capcom cpo used on a lot of the street fighter 2 games. It might not be the dedicated cpo for World Warrior but you can't really say it's not original either since it's probably an original capcom cpo.

price, who cares really. $450 for a working game is not bad. a lot of guys probably would say $200-$300 max! but that's klov prices LOL

This one is in Utah for the asking price of 1600.00. So if you picked your up for 450.00 and the KLOV price is between 200.00-300.00 then this guy apparently didnt get the memo. I appologize if this is a KLOV'ers game but it seems the ones being posted here in Utah are really about 1000.00 to high. One guy was trying to sell 2 cruisin USA's linked for 1900.00. I bought both mine for less than 600.00 for both. A silent scope 2 for 1300.00( about 6-700.00 too much) Just riduculous.

thanks for more feed back guys. The cabinet does have a sliding drawer, makes things alot easier!!!! Also Im happy with the $450 I spent, like everyone said price doesnt really mattter. Even though this was a quick spontaneous buy, I did alot of looking on craigslist, and ebay even. With what was out there in my area, with the condition I got the machine in, it was fair for the area im in at california. He was originally asking $650, and I got him to go with $450.

Probably just gonna leave the control panel, since I now know it was at least capcom. Thinking about repainting the sides though since there is some wear, and I hate red. Thinking about black or purple. What you al think?

I saw a thread with someone that did a black and purple restore job. Thing looked gorgeous.

Dynamo and 3KOAM made Zbacks.
Dynamo HS5s are not Zbacks.
All Zbacks have a drawer.
WW came before the Zbacks.
WW did ship in a 25" cab ordered from Capcom and assembled by Dynamo.
That CPO is one of the generics with move stickers on top. Its the purple and blue speckle pattern. The Grey/black speckle is for CE.
You don't want WW and should upgrade to HF or just move all the way to a CPS2 setup.
25" cabs are worth 300-500 depending on condition location and where you are at. I wouldn't have paid more than $300 but I usually find good deals on Capcom fighter cabs. Its a fair price and you didn't get ripped off. Later in this hobby you learn how to get better deals.

Welcome to the hobby. You got a great start... now how about a Neo Geo!

i would really like a street fighter 2 cab. i am a bit envious
congratulations on entering the hobby with a good game. Its an addiction, be careful!

Pretty much what Prairied said. WW did not come in a Z-Back, so if you are really worried about having it all original, you're sitting in the wrong cabinet. With that said, from what I've seen/heard all these years, HF is the game Z-Backs were built for (and it's the best of the CPS-1 SF2 titles). I don't think there is anything wrong with utilizing the CP you have on there and swapping the marquee/bezel. Swapping the marquee/bezel is definitely the easier route.

In the end, though, do what YOU want. They were utilized well beyond HF for just about every Capcom fighter out there. These cabinets are really convenient for board swapping and making it compatible for CPS 1, 2 and 3 systems is as simple as wiring an additional kick harness to your kick buttons. The only con is getting to the back of the monitor or, heaven forbid, you drop something beyond the tray and down onto the floor.

If we could just get a good source for the red vinyl used on the sides, we could all have minty looking Z-Backs. :)

If you still wanna keep it a WW, just for reference and shits n' giggles, check out Challenger's WW cab. It's not a Z-back or an original WW...or even the original paint scheme, but it is still pretty sweet.

after further research. my cabinet is not a dynamo, but actually a 3-koem z back.

Here in Cali 3KOAMs are very common. Capcom switched to them for sourcing cabs during the CE/HF timeline. I think they mixed orders with both as 3KOAM was just 10 miles from Capcom's HQ in Sunnyvale -> Fremont.

Kobozono was such a stickler that he probably drove over to oversee stuff.
