ok, so this one is for the super-advanced folk out there.

optical guns have been around a long time.
specifically, the common style that syncs with
the CRT scan and assisted by the pure white flash.

Qwak! (1974) uses this (sorta).

Hogan's Alley (1983) also does.

So my trivia question is who put out the first
infrared-tracked gun arcade game and what
was its title?

Google all you want, I don't think anyone anywhere ever
mentions this. I suspect a certain title, but this might be
a good challenge for everyone and the answer could be
quite a surprise.

OK Gurus... let's see who knows this one! (or can find out)

T10265U- (this represents a cryptic code for my guess)

Um...

Why are there no hot chicks in this new Yaggy thread?

i'm pretty sure Shoot Away used the white flash / sync method.

Is this possible? Shoot Away II I know for a fact projected an image onto a screen in front of the main unit. Does the flash method work when the image is not displayed on a crt?

good question - no. there'd be no sync (timing) data to determine where the gun was actually aimed. but! like "Qwak", Shoot Away works on a 1938 technology of light intensity sensing, similar to those used in those boardwalk Bonanza shooting galleries, only in reverse -- the clay pigeons were the light source and the gun barrel housed the light sensor.

As long as your gun's lens was pointed at the light source when the trigger was pulled, you scored the hit. In Qwak, the screen sort of flashed -- but only a block about the size of the duck would light up. And this would be the area in which you would score a hit, if properly aimed. TTL games were rather simplistic in this way.

Oh and Lee, I just shoot for fun. The girls are either friends, friends of theirs, or contact me after seeing my portfolio somewhere online. I don't charge them anything, but I kind of find myself having the time to shoot when the girls are fit rather than chunky, as you can imagine. It's always fun and sometimes it even leads to dating, although that's never the initial motivation. Almost never. Maybe sometimes.
