First Game of 2011: Rampage!!!

Well, based on the size of the thing I figured (assumed?) it went to a 25 inch game. I can measure the window portion of it and see for sure I guess.

Anyone know if Rampage actually did come in a 25 inch version? The flyer doesn't mention one way or another.

Yeah mine's the 19 inch version. The cab looks like it should have a 25" monitor, but the viewing window seems to be made for a 19 inch monitor, at least on my machine.

I think Rampage is a kick ass game. Another one that I had and sold and then regretted it.

Agreed, and cool that you owned one once. Most serious collectors seem to snub their noses at any game that came out after '83, which is sad. Who doesn't like giant monsters destroying buildings and fighting armies? This game represents a part of my youth that I really miss. It used to be one of the few games that sat in a small row on the South wall of the Melrose Bowl. The others being Ghosts N Goblins and Heavy Barrel. Since we lived in the country, I would go from school to Cub Scouts and religion classes and then up to the alley to wait for my grandma to get done bowling as she was my ride home. Fast forward 25 years. I bowled at the same place in a no-tap tourney just last Saturday and the whole alley has been remodeled. The original owner died and his son and grandson took over. It is bigger, more open and much nicer, but the charm is gone. They now have all this extra room and not one video game. Not one. That really made me sad. I think this is gonna be a fun resto. I should really get this side art reproed as painting it just doesn't seem right.

Slightly OT- funny that you mention bowling! I just went bowling as well last Saturday with my dad at the old bowling alley where I grew up playing arcade games. It was both really cool and really sad that that time is past.

19" only is what Rampage came with.. No 25" versions from factory. I had one for years located at my brothers house. He has 2 kids both grown now. It does not suck to have one in the arcade if you have kids. His kids loved this game and I think alot of it has to do with them being able to keep pumping credits on and they can keep on punching.. It's easy for them to play and learn and with 3 player optional, you get to play with them. Of course when they got older the interest dropped. I ended up selling the machine but it got more kid play then my other games. It's a great family game. Not so much for adults as it gets old fast. Rampage is an underrated game and deserves a bit more respect imo.

Congrats on the pick up.. I hope it serves you well.

I love bowling. I finally ordered myself a new ball after 25 years of using the same black 16 pounder. Now I have a sleek, green, one-eyed 16 pounder. It's got a graphic of a closeup of Godzilla's eye. I love it. Too bad I sucked at the tournament. 200, 162, 183. No tap. I couldn't hit a 9 to save my life. I hit either a strike or a 7 almost every other ball.

I had a Rampage once, but...that was a long time ago.... (said in a melodramatic voice). I don't even remember who I sold it to. Hell, this could have been my old rampage, mine was beat up too.

I went the painting route and let me tell you it was a total bitch to do It did turn out well though.

This was all done by hand (well I taped it up then spray painted it).

Dude, you must bowl all the time. Those scores are decent! BITD, my average was 165. My high score last Saturday was 151. I'm still rockin' a blue Hammer from 21 years ago. I still have my patch from my one and only 600 series though...

So I opened up the back of this machine and nearly fell down and fucked myself. There is some hacked 1982 ATX power supply (with half of the housing removed) just wire nutted into the power configuration, and get this, it's not even secured to the cabinet. This big heavy lunchbox is rattling all over the cabinet and currently resides on top of the old linear supply. There is also a pile of old connectors, quarters, screws, dead spiders, notebook paper, paper clips, ball sacs and God only knows what else. I fired the machine up and nothing. Got the marquee light on, but that was it. Messed with the power cord that plugs into the ATX, and I got life. Let it go, the game went dead. Bent the cord up, the game came back on. Went around the front, great picture, no sound. Messed with the volume (which was all the way down) still nothing. Left it on for 5 minutes, put it in test mode, powered it off and on, cycled thru the tests and was able to get all the sounds to fire. Put it in game mode and she's playing and sounding fine. I will need to clean the mess in the inside of the cabinet up though, holy fuck. Are there rebuild kits for these Midway supplies? How about the Sounds Good Board?
