I finally got my first "classic" arcade cab. I already have a Ms. Pac Man / Galaga Reunion, but I'm not sure if it qualifies.

I picked up a Dig Dug last night. It's in pretty good shape.

Pros:
Bezel is perfect. Side art is good; a few dings and scuffs. CPO is good; two small cigarette burns. Monitor is sharp and no discernable burn-in. Marquee graphic is perfect. Gameplay seems spot on. Sound is good.

Cons:
Marquee light is out. Coin door button lights are out. Joystick is sloppy loose. Screen flickers to the right side once every 2 or 3 minutes. Leg levelers are missing or broken. Missing key for coin box. Coin door has chipped paint and rust.

I'm very happy with it. It needs just enough work to get my feet wet in my first project. I'll probably be posing a few questions on some of the repairs.

Just thought I'd share.

Congrats. I just picked up my Dig Dug about 3 weeks ago. It's working, but it sounds like it's in slightly rougher shape than yours. I have some screen burn from a pole position and the audio is really loud. I just haven't turned down the volume yet.

Super nice machine. And every single Con you listed is an easy fix.

Nice pick up!

I'm surprised no one made that reference yet...... Anyway.....

Great pickup! I've had mine over a year now, and still love the game. What did you drop for it?

I was thinking that earlier when I saw this thread title. What ever happened to Keith anyway? I guess he finally got tired of moving his games up and down those stairs.

I don't think he took the "ribbing" very well. Then again, some of it was a little harsh.

FWIW, to the two new Dig Dug owners.... I am going to recommend that the first thing you look at is the harness to PCB connector. Make sure it's not "burning up" due to a poor connection. If it hasn't been done to your machines yet, I'd recommend running a piece of 18 gauge wire from the closest test points(both +5 and GND) on the board, to the respective wires on the harness. This is easily accomplished by removing the pins from the connector, and wrap the end to the new wire and cover each connection with electrical tape.

So that it looks like this:

I wonder if the one I used to play as a kid at Frank's Pizza at the Laneco in P'burg NJ is still alive and well or it has long rotted in a dump? I liked Dig Dug so much better than Donkey Kong.... Actually, Donkey Kong is my least favorite of the true classics... But oh did I used to play Dig Dug while my mom was shopping... I would so love to go back in time just for one day...
