First cap kit failure on Sanyo 20EZ, getting centered white vertical line

As the title states, I finally got done capping the 20EZ in my DK Jr to cure some vertical foldover and was greeted with disappointment. The monitor now displays nothing but a bright centered vertical white line. Game will not coin up or play blind either. Checked my cables on monitor/game board, vertical size, service switch on monitor chassis, solder joints, and everything seemed to be OK including C407 and C408.

I did mess up my first C408's polarity while soldering, but caught this error and replaced it before re-installing the monitor chassis. This location proved to be a bitch as it took me numerous times to produce a healthy solder joint here; even so I do not think I burnt a pad or trace at C408's' location.

Not really sure where to go next, thanks in advance for any help/advice.

If your service switch is in the "normal" position (direction of arrow) that should be OK. I would then check your pots mainly the V-hold and V-size etc... If they check OK check to see if you didn't miss any caps or look for one that you might have not flowed the solder correctly or for a cold joint.

So, I just reread your original post and it seems you may have another issue as well. I'm pretty sure that even if you had an issue with the display you should still get some sounds and the game should coin up and play blind. Did you get all of your connectors back together correctly?

Agreed, pull all of your monitor connections back off and verify that they are in the correct locations.

Alright guys, time for round two. Just unplugged all cables from the game and monitor boards, reseated everything, and still no change. Tried adjusting the various Vertical adjustment knobs and did not notice any shift of movement on the screen (not sure if there would be any with vertical collapse). All adjustment pots seem to have solid connections to their respective boards. Fiddled with the volume some because it seemed a tad low, but still no sound signifying blind play. The audio worked fine before I attempted the cap kit, I also did not tamper with/attempt to cap the audio board.

I get the feeling the monitor is not even recognizing the game PCB, but being as all the cables are plugged in properly this makes little sense unless this can be caused by a faulty soldering joint on the monitor board.

Just trying to exercise all possible solutions before I remove the monitor board once again and give that another going over.

vertical deflection failure. if you look on the schematic, there should be a chip/transistor thats in that circuit. check where the legs of the chip attach to the PCB. look for any cold solder joints. replace chip/transistor with new if no cold solder. check resistors that have gone out of specification. see if any are burnt or brown. broken traces? hairline cracks?
