I ordered a cap kit from BobRoberts and their are axial caps all over the board. The cap kit just came with radial caps. I gather this doesn't matter and I can use those to replace the axial caps?
Also, it seems the cap kit I received has less caps than is on the board. Is this common?
Thanks!

What are you capping? Bob should have included paperwork directing you which caps to replace. Axial should match with axial, and radial should match radial. Most of the caps match in value, although some may be included for a higher voltage than the original you're replacing (which is fine).

He only includes the 'most common failure' caps in the kit.

Gotcha! I have'nt matched the caps yet using the list that came with it. I just noticed I had about 30 radial caps, But theres only like 10 on the board

You sure you said that right? You have more caps in the bag from Bob Roberts than you have on your monitor board? That doesn't sound right. Should be the other way around. What model monitor?

Correction, 10 radial caps

Ok I recapped the board, Matching the caps with a schematic I found online for my monitor was a bit of a challenge.
But now there is another issue, The image on the screen cannot be centered. There is about a hand width between the edge of image and edge of the tube. The width is larger when first powering on, Slowly the image moves to the right, then slides over and over like a train about every 5 minutes. I adjust the horizontal hold pot and its back to original position that I described. I've included a pic of what it looks like before it starts to slide.
Sorry the pic is upside down. Right side of screen is the top of the pic.
Did I recap this wrong? I know its my first cap kit, but i was super careful and had a little help too. I didn't include a pic of what it does, because image would look too distorted, best way I could describe: would be like looking out the window of your car as your moving. Any ideas? Thanks

So recap it? Could it be a bad horizontal hold pot on the board?
Because when i adjust the pot the image will not go all the way to the right, as I adjust the pot further to the right, the image slides over and over until I readjust back to the left. With the results in previous pic.

So,this issue still has not been fixed. I had a someone come by and check out the caps, he said entire cap kit was installed correctly. He also installed a new power voltage regulator.
He says the horizontal shift needs to be adjusted.
He wants to know if anyone may know if there is a horizontal shift jumper on the board. We can't find any jumpers on the board. Thanks for any help.

It's a Toei CM-A20

Well, there are a couple jumpers on the board. there is on in the middle for the Vertical Centering. It looks like a degauss connector with a jumper on it. There is one directly behind the flyback for making the image wider or narrower horizontally. And there is one unmarked just to the left of the flyback that may be for horizontal centering, but I couldn't tell you for sure, so move it at your own risk.

As for the horizontal hold, make sure you have the sync hooked up properly because it's weird on that monitor, and check the hold pot...

Thanks a lot for the info! Yea the sync for the horizontal hold looks solid. My friend did try adjusting some yellow wires near the flyback ( I have no idea what these are), but it did not fix the issue, He ultimately said my problem could be two things: He noticed the power supply had been set to 6volts and he lowered it to 5, he suspected, if it had been adjusted that much voltage for a long time it possibly could have damaged the board causing my issue
The next thing he said, was he felt the board may not be compatible with the game itself. I don't know what he meant by this
But, I'll get him back here. Thanks again

i think he means that the monitor and the game board may not be compatible. Some monitors are positive or negative sync only and won't work with the opposite. Other games (like MCR types) will not work with sync-sensing monitors like the typical newer models...

The repair guy is going to come back this week, and check for those jumpers. The hold pot on this machine is extremely sensitive. After the machine being powered off for a time, I had to make readjustments. Would it be just easier to purchase another monitor. I've seen some on ebay go for 150 and up. Would there be a certain model that would be compatible with this game?
