First attempt at bondo

i cant wait to get some bondo and starting working on my converted pac cab ad its coing door, its going to look like crap lol yours looks great just sand it and it will be good

Did you use some kind of form to fill in that corner? Or did you just eyeball it?

I just eyeballed it. It did come out pretty good but wish I would have used reinforcement, but I think its good for now...

Put a set of corner protectors on it? That'll hold it all together! I have them on my DK and they look nice.....

It won't be dissolved or cleared by your lungs, so it'll just sit there. It's got nasty chemicals in it. Nasty chemicals just sitting in your lungs over time=cancer. How much and for how long? Who knows? I've inhaled a fair amount, but I'm working harder now at staying away. I finally invested $30 and got myself a good mask that is SOOOOO awesome...I can't even smell the stuff. Best $30 I spent.

I'm just starting consider doing some repairs..definately will invest in the right equipment.

It's great for painting and everything. I mean, I smell NOTHING. It's a flood to the senses after you take it off, so leave the room before removing!

I inhaled some Bondo dust after doing "just a little touch up sanding". Really dumb...from now on, I'll use my mask at all times. I hope I don't have Pink Lung.

i put the bondo on in thin increments.
when its hardening, i use a file to trim it down which is way easier then sanding it down when its all hard

i use screws and dont screw them all the way in to give the bondo something to reinforce it. somtimes any mesh screen can help too. kinda like rebar in concrete is how i think about it

bondo actually shrinks. theres some new tech stuff that doesnt

It ands out much easier if you dont use 3 times too much hardener :D

and also, get some foller form a local auto parts store that sells quality auto body stuff.

THe bondo brand krap is good for rough filling but its real hard to sand.

As far as sanding goes i do car bodywork too so ive graduated to a 6" and 8" air powered da sanders. 8" da with 80 grit knocks filler down QUICKLY

All the cool kids huff bondo!

I am actually going through my first bondo experience myself. Almost looks like the exact cab I am doing too! I am doing it in my basement and the smell is strong but not that bad. Makes me wish I had a garage to do this crap. One thing I have learned with bondo is patients. Its taken me several short sessions to build corners to make it look right. Sanding is a MAJOR key factor for sure!
