I picked up a firestar a few months back and it is has an issue. When you plug it in, it just starts playing. It will play every record in the magazine in numerical order. The buttons on the keypad have no effect. The manual credit switch does nothing. The reject button does work as well as the manual start/stop buttons. Any idea where to start looking?

Make sure all of your wiring connections including the Tormat memory unit cables are all shiny clean and the contacts on the boxes I had some issues with mine when I first got it cleaned all the connections and removed the pricing card so it was on freeplay and that fixed all my issues. Where are you located....Just curious.

What Dave27 said. The tormat plug connection to the control center is the usual culprit in this case, it has to be clean and those metal ears on the end have to be tight fitting. You can pinch them toward the center of the cable a little if necessary.

Cool, I will check the the tormat connections. I think this one might be a basket case judging from the amount of mildew inside. I am located in Spokane, coming this way anytime soon?

For an old Seeburg, you are well ahead of the curve if it will scan and play records. One that has been sitting for a long time usually suffers from a gummed-up clutch and record transfer arm and dirty contacts under the tormat unit at the least. And the sound system works too, wow. btw, once you get it working, it is still going to play every selection you made while working on it. Selections stay in the memory until played or rejected, so don't assume there is still a problem until they are all played. Some cleaning and a lube job and you're set. Enjoy.

Sorry no not anytime soon. but you are ahead of the curve if its playing. If you decide to part it out let me know I may be interested in the machanical and cosmetic stuff for spares for mine.

Did you solve your problem with yours playing every record? Mine just started doing this too. Worked flawlessly last 7 years though.
