I have an offer to trade my virtua racing twin (think BIG, limited market) for a fair condition Firepower.
Playfield looks good, some very minor wear spots, plastics look good, backglass is decent with some minor scratches near the edges. The machine works completely with the exception of the settings/scores being saved.
He says he's changed the batteries yet the settings aren't retained.

Firepower isn't on my list of must-have pins, but I'd like to ditch the VR to gain more space in the gameroom, decent trade in your opinions?

Thoughts on the battery issue?

I have the same problem with settings retintion on mine, I plan on swapping in a Rottendog replacement eventually. I really like mine, it can be a brutal game but is fast and a lot of fun. I got mine in non working condition in a trade so I couldn't give you any idea of worth, but I can tell you I don't see it leaving the gameroom anytime soon.

You just need to replace the battery holder. $5 part and easy to install.

I sold my Firepower because I thought it was a bit boring. Not a bad game at all but since its lacking music and voice it dates itself.

Well, it may be a moot point anyway, now he is imagining having the VR and his Firepower in his gameroom but is offering an EM and cash in exchange.

I like cash :)

I wouldn't mind having a go at doing playfield work on the EM (It's functioning 100% as well), but the backglass is pretty peeled, no idea what I'll do about that, my art skills aren't that good.
The cash alone would be enough for me to do that trade, so a working EM, beat or not is just a bonus.

We're down to logistics now (truck? trailer? door sizes?)
Fingers crossed.

Interesting. In my mind I consider a twin sitdown racer, especially a good one like VR, to be worth more than a Firepower machine, but you're right about the limited market for such a big game. I'd say value-wise, you'd be getting the short end of the stick with a straight up trade, but only by a little. Firepower generally sells for $700 to $800in decent shape. The VR might be worth about a grand IF you can find a buyer. I had one for almost a year and it is definitely a solid playing machine - it's much harder than it looks.

Now in exchange for the EM... ehh, I definitely wouldn't do it, but it depends on how much cash he is offering. I'd say he'd need to be giving you at least $600 plus the pin (maybe even $700 considering the condition that thing is in) for your VR, but maybe that's because I have a fondness for twin racers ;)

Best of luck!

Brendan

Twin sit down racers only go for around 600 and lots less (usually 300$ range) around these parts and they take FOREVER to sell -- nobody around here seems to want these beasts due to the footprint. Solid state pinballs priced fairly sell quick as hell in working condition though.

For the FP, a straight trade seems fair. For the EM, I'd think trade + >600$ cash like above poster said would be reasonible.

I'm hitting that $600 number in the trade, so I guess I'll be alright. I honestly have no idea what to do with the pin though, the only other older EM I have is a GL Sing-Along and the backglass is perfect on that so even if I can repair the playfield with work, I don't know what my options are with something this trashed. Look for a parts machine?
Part this machine out? I have to figure this glass will be hard to find, but I'd hate to part out a reverse wedgehead..

I could use a CHEAP EM in my collection..... Hmmmmmm, if only I knew a guy in Watertown that had one....

I'll probably drop you a line next week, he's coming down on Sunday to do the trade.
You've seen the pics, you sure you want to tackle this? Where the hell are you going to put it? :)

I did a little reorganizing... I have room for 1 EM pin in the collection. Since I don't like EM pins in general, the one I get has to be dirt cheap since I probably wont play it much at all..... I created a "wall of pinball evolution" (Pretty much because I am a loser)

1 EM (only thing missing), 1 SS (WoF- It has EM qualities to it), 1 Hybrid (RFM/SWE1 Combo), and 1 all digital (my Homebrew Ultrapin).......

Cosmetically this EM is rough, but there really arent many cosmetics at all..... This pales in comparison to the CO 1812 PF I restored (35% paint loss), and the R911 PF I am currently restoring (50% paint loss).....

Shoot me an email or give me a call when you get more info/the pin.....

I was thinking of having a small collection of pins that showed the evolution as well but I was thinking more like EM, SS, alpha numeric, DMD as my pics

but then i realized I am not a EM fan so I doubt I will do that.
