Did they make a repro run of these or does anyone have one (even used) they might be willing to part with?
The only ones I have seen are the $1200 PROTOTYPE on feebay :(
I have a chance to score a thrashed but playable Firepower and just wondering what my options are as far as play fields are concerned
What is the going rate for a FP project pin?
Thanks again guys

Take a look at Classic Playfield Reproductions:
http://www.classicplayfields.com/
They have the Firepower Plastics in stock, and the artwork for the Firepower playfield is completed. They do not say when they will start production.

(Edit: Removed a spot where I thought something might be a fake, and have been legitimately convinced that I was wrong)

CPR does plan on doing a Firepower playfield run, but it could be a couple years down the road still.

Thanks for all your guys input
I think you have convinced me to buy it FOR SURE...
It has some issues with the boards that the owner is trying to fix now, but he is willing to negotiate on price depending on status of repair.
I guess I wont feel so bad trying to touch up this playfield then seeing as there is a shit-ton of them out there, that was my major concern, if I were to mess up a playfield how hard would it be to get my hands on a new (er) one.
The one that is in it I dont think can get too much worse but I am really looking forward to a good winter project!
Ive never played a Firepower, and have never bought a game without playing it first, but I dont think there is much to lose at this asking price.

That seller, dangerdann, has a literal shit-ton of genuine original (and sometimes proto) Williams stuff that he has been selling for years now. Backglasses, playfields, etc. It's real. The Firepower playfield and the Flash playfield he has up now are just the latest in a very long string of gems like this he has sold.

Search rec.games.pinball for dangerdann and the keywords nos, and proto. You'll see posts dating back to 2006, when he first began unloading this stuff.

As far as saying it looks like an overlay, you should look closer at the enlarged pictures. There is absolutely zero doubt, beyond zero into the negative range, that this is anything but a factory original piece.

I don't personally know the guy so I've got no real axe to grind here, but before you make a statement like calling it fake, you should research it a bit more. My only gripe is I wish I could justify laying out the bucks for it...it would be sharp in my game, and I would agonize endlessly over whether or not to install it... :D

It could be real, I guess that's possible. I just find it odd that they would re-run playfields a couple years after the games were made, just to try the newer inserts in them. Then again, Williams did do a run of new backglasses for Firepower and Black Knight in the mid 90's..... so yeah, I can see your point.

Well, though I did stick my foot fully into my mouth in this thread, I did get a cool story in the end. Neat stuff hearing about that pinbot field too.

And, back to the original topic.... firepower is a kick-ass game. Even if the playfield is pretty worn, a good cleaning and waxing can still get you a great playing game. If the price is right, and it's a working machine, I say go for it. With so many of them made, finding a good used playfield shouldn't be too hard with a bit of patience. Compared to newer machines, it's not too complicated of a swap either.

Here is a pic of the playfield its pretty bad right?
Salvageable?
I have no idea on what kind of paint to use to touch it up or if I should strip it and put some custom art on it..
I was toying with the idea of painting an image of the death-star on it untill I could find a better playfield, (space theme, WHY NOT?)
Knowing full well that this would be considered by most to be sacrilegious, it most likely would not be a permanent solution, just an idea...

I just added myself to the CPR waiting list for a repro playfield. I have been waiting a loooong time. The scan used was from a NOS PF so it should be very true to the original. FP is one of my favorite pins. I am a Steve Ritchie fan and like games that get the pinballs flying if I choose (yes I have an F-14).

That one and BK2K are pins I never tire of playing. I have two very beat up FPs with trashed playfields and will take the best of each for the rebuild. I have a stencil set for the cab and a plastics set. Time to save up for the playfield and also order a repro backglass. I'll use LEDs for the displays and inserts.

This will be my first and only total rebuild of a pinball machine. I usually buy mine in playable shape needing shop outs. It takes time to find them and you have to be patient.
