Fireball home edition HELP NEEDED

Thanks again to Dokert for fixing my power supply. Here's the problem I'm having now. When I first turned it on the light lit up but the game would not start. Then it worked for awhile but the ball was getting stuck on the wire things at the top. I wiggled the game around until the ball came loose and it quit again. I cleaned a bunch of connectors and raised the back of the machine so the ball would roll easier. Worked great for about 10 minutes and then conked out again. So right now when you power it up the lights come on and the flippers work but the game will not start (no scoring, bumpers don't work). When you turn it off one bumper pulses once and if you unhook that one another will pulse. The tilt mechanism is not all there but it never was so I don't think that has anything to do with my problem. Where do I start?

Thanks, y-bot

Check for cold solder joints on all the connector header pins on both the power supply board and on the game board. Be sure the CPU chip is fully seated in it's socket on the game board.

There is a modern replacement CPU board being developed to repair these machines. It is called the "Pinball Mind" board and info is here:

First batch of "sample" Pinball Mind retrofit boards for Bally home pinball machines has arrived from the PCB manufacturer and are now at the developer's house ready for testing/programming.

Whoa, that is cool. I still have this turd here at my work, I haven't touched it for awhile. Someone was helping me with it for awhile but the PCB in mine does not match the schematics we found online. Someday when I have more time maybe I'll start working on it again. I'd love to give it a new home though. Kinda just past the point where it makes financial sense to keep spending time on it.

The developer of the Pinball Mind board emailed me some actual pictures of the board. All I can say is.....WOW! This will really fix all those 'dead' Bally home model pinball machines. With the right adapter harness, this board can also repair Brunswick "Alive" pinball. It has also been designed to repair the bad cpu boards in the Bally 1000 series slot machines. In essence, it will be a very versatile board.

I am impressed with this board. :) I would like to do some beta testing of it for sure.

This board adds so much more functionality, diagnostics, game play, sounds, light shows, programming than what the original board had. I believe pricing will be competitive with the Alltek Ultimate MPU.
