Picked this up unshopped and in need of a serious overhaul. The family who bought it about 8-10 years ago did no cleaning or maintenance and apparently just played it until a bunch of stuff broke. Picked it up for $1100.00 and put about 300 bucks in parts and about 60-80 hours of labor.
The Time Expander mini-playfield is a neat toy but one of the biggest PITA I have ever worked on.
Here's what I did (not a complete list):

Re-grained and polished lockbar
Cleaned and re-painted black WPC legs and new levelers
New black pincab protectors and black leg bolts
Cleaned cabinet and touched-up art
Repaired gouge in backbox with bondo, sanded, re-painted to blend
Repaired WPC driver board - 2 new bridge rectifiers, re-pinned J114 and J121, reflowed headers
New backglass lift channel
Changed all 44 and 555 bulbs to LEDs
Flattened warped playfield plastics with heat gun
New white rubber throughout
New Dalek sling plastics and fender washers
New red star posts and cliffy colored post sleeves throughout
New flipper coils and complete flipper rebuild kits (x3)
New hi-gloss pinballs (x3)
cleaned, polished and waxed playfield
New coin door and backbox locks
New tempered playfield glass
Pulled and refurbished Time Expander mini-playfield
Cleaned and polished ball guides
Removed bubbled mylar
New post rubbers
New 5-opto PCBs from Great Lakes Modular
New spring steel edge cover
Cliffy edge protector
Clear epoxy to fill ball divots and sand flat

Hey, John - I miss you guys too, believe me.

The people are about all I miss about the Midwest, but there you go.

Just today, I troubleshot my buddy's Sinbad over the phone (blown 5A fuse), then ran over to another buddy's place, re-soldered a broken wire on his Funhouse's kickout solenoid, then helped him move a Demolition Man and a Revenge From Mars into his overstuffed game room.

That's after 3 loads of laundry, cleaning the house and cooking dinner for the family.

I'm bushed.

+1

just far enough away so that you have to stand on your tippy toes to reach in there to remove screws, plugs, etc.

PITA is a kind word for it
