Fine Tuning -> Focusing Correctly... Nanao m8-26su

I have a Nanao m8-26su that I currently have running in a Off-Road Challenge. It is running and I can see the picture. I am not needing to fine tune, but which knobs should be tuned first, on down to last. If I remember right, there is...

V-Hold, V-Position, V-Size, H-Hold, H-Phase on the right side, H-size in the middle, then a bunch of color stuff on the left, (blue, green, red, brightness, gamma, ect.) Also, there's the focus and something else on the back of the tube.

Thanks,
zasteeg

Bump....posted an updated picture on what the monitor currently looks like.

Let me know what I should do next, I've spent days/weeks on this thing....

Thanks,
zasteeg

adjust horizontal hold.

If you cant get it to lock it, make sure its wired right and also make sure the jumperis on low for loe res as most of those nanaos are regular or med res depending on where the jumper is. ****** EDIT: off road challenge is med res so on a nanao make sure your on the "hi" jumper*********

On these nanaos the wiring is as follows. ( monitor side)

blue= blue
red= red
green= green

blue/white= SYNC
white= video ground

Now thats a little diffferent because in MOST CABS the white is the sync.. so most folks mix up the sync and vig gnd wires

so thats a good start.

that monitors also going to need to be manyallt degaussed but we can worry about that after you get her up and running

Do you have the resolution jumper on the HIGH or LOW plug? HIGH is for med-res and LOW is for standard-res. I know the KLOV page says standard-res, but your image looks like you have the jumper in the wrong spot. Try changing it (power off) to see if it helps or gets worse. if it gets worse, shut it off right away and change it back...

I currently have the jumper on High. I will double check the connections in the morning, and make sure there is a solid connection between all of them.

I will post another picture of what I find tomorrow.

Thanks for the help,
zasteeg

Is the jumper supposed to be on high or low. I know the KLOV page says low, but in another thread I was told it needs to be on high?

Thanks,
zasteeg

I checked the Wells U5000 and it was on 25hz, so I placed the Nanao on High. I double checked the sync and ground wires, made a better connection (soldering).

Turned it on, and here's a few pictures of what I could come up with after tinkering around with the pots.

It was somewhat playable, but still noticeably weird. Some instances it'd look pretty good, then it'd go to another screen with the game, and it would really act up with the dizzyness.

Let me know what else I can do....

take a pic of how the wires of the cab meet the wires of the monitor....

i guess med res (high) should be correct for the offroad challlenge...

i think you migtht have the sync and video ground wires reversed.

Sorry on the delay, I had something unfortunate come up and had to go out of town for a few days.

Below is the sync/ground attached. Are these backwards?

I'm not sure what else to try at this point.

Thanks,
zasteeg

heres the closest manual ive found, for offroad thnder.

I know its med res too, but dont know if its the same as yours or not.

im interested to see how the rest are hooked up too, from what i see so far you might have it wired correctly and have a video board issue or something.

did you ever see this game work peoperly or did you get it with a dead monitor?

I used the game with a Wells U5000 in it. The U5000 was in bad shape to start, and another klover offered to cap it for me. So we did the capping process and the game looked great for a few months, slowly starting losing colors again, and eventually lost most of it's reds and blues. So I had a working Virtua Cop II with the Nanao in it, hadn't been using it, so I decided to switch them out. This was the result.

Pictures below are of the power and RBG/Ground/Sync wires.

It's almost getting to the point where I want to hook up the old U5000 and use that without certain colors.

man thats just odd. looks like its wired properly.

yoiu can try swapping the yel/blk and yel/wht around, but i think you have other issues.

you do have the monitor jumper cable on hi correct?

The monitor is on high. I will switch around the white/yellow and black/yellow. This is really confusing to me. I may try out the other monitor again to see if that's even working properly

I have off all day tomorrow (Sunday) and want to see if I can make some progress with this dang thing.

Here are some updated pictures. Here is what my current plugs look like on the monitor.

A couple questions I have. When looking a the tuning knobs, the right side does not have the back row knobs? Are they supposed to be that way? At first I should the push button on the left side adjusted whether the knobs were first row back row when I would adjust.

I also would like someone to take a look to see that the cords are in the right spots.

Thanks

Plugs look okay. Obviously the power goes to the 2-pin connector on the far right of the 4th pic. Can't recall if yours is 100vac or 120vac, but make sure you connect the right one.

It is currently setup for med-res, so make sure that's the signal you apply.

Yes, those rear pots on the right are typically like that. I think the only reason they put plastic knobs on the ones on the left was to make it easier to adjust the colors...

So in picture 2, is the second row adjustable? In picture 3 there is like a blueish push button, is that to switch between rows? Also, in Picture 4, does it matter if the black/white of the power is switched, just making sure that's right too.
