So I bought one of those Atari Transformer Blocks that old Troy had fabricated and kitted a few months back. I bought the kit with my Pole Position cockpit in mind, but as it is a very hard machine to gain access to at the moment, I kinda left everything in the package for a future rainy day. Fast forward 3 months. I decided that while I was waiting for some stuff to arrive to complete a few other projects, I'd clean up the Dig Dug cabaret I bought a few months back in the meantime. I never even thought about replacing the transformer block in here til I opened the back and took a lookie inside. What greeted me was a cab floor covered in 2-3 inches of debris from at least 2 mouse nests and possibly a chipmunk kegger. Fur, ripped up vegetation, turds, piss covered this-n-thats, acorns, peanut shells, etc. After a thorough vacuuming, sanding and disinfecting, I was left with a few stains in the wooden floor and a horribly tarnished, rusted and otherwise disgusting transformer block. Here it is after disassembly:

Now I was a little intimidated by all the wires, screws and connectors, but after looking things over, unscrewing everything and pulling it all apart, I was able to mate the old stuff with the new panel and ended up with something like this:

After the install, it took a reseat of all the connectors after initial power up, but now everything's working great. Now all that's left to decide is if I wanna paint the top of the iso transformer black, or just leave it for now as it's working fine. Probably paint it, but I may wait a while. Anyhoo, I just wanted to say Thanks Troy, great repro!!!!

I installed 3 of these in various games so far. They make a nice finishing touch.

BUT... I don't think they are really suitable for cocktails? I know that my Warlords transformer assembly has stamped/engraved labeling on it. The fuse values are all different as well.

Other than that I can't complain. Excellent product as always.

Come to think of it I need to buy some fish paper so I can trace the one original fuse holder cover I actually have and cut some for all my games...

Wait a minute... Phet, you didn't transfer the original serial sticker?

I'm a little disappointed... what do I have left to believe in? :(

Could always see if etiennedk has some extras of this type of serial sticker, too. If they are pre-cut I'm not sure how you'd type in the numbers though.

I have a couple rolls of that 3M adhesive stuff for transferring pinball decals, so I transferred mine over for the games that actually had matching serials. Doubt I'd have bothered if I didn't have that stuff lying around.

Phet,

That looks great!

One question I've got is how did you disinfect the cabinet? I just picked up a really nice (cosmetically speaking) DKJr that has seen better days inside the cabinet. It's loaded with mouse turds, etc.

I'm curious as to what the best method is to complete the cleaning/disinfecting after the vacuuming is done.

Thanks.

I just used simple green, soap and water. I still need to use a stiff bristled brush in the corners.

I hope that's not the DKJr you were going to sell me :)

Fair enough. I was going to use Simple Green as well and wash it down once I removed everything. I didn't know if there was any 'secret' to it that I didn't know. Thanks.

I had a cab with some mold growing on the inside bottom wood surface..I sprayed the sucker (outside of course) with clorox Spray Bleach and wiped all I could with rag and let two subsequent coats soak into wood and dry on its own..it turned out great....mold and dirt completely gone and no smell....but simply green works well too.

Almost forgot the base plate that sits underneath the power brick assembly. Much like the back of Fritz's throat, it was also covered in corrosive piss stains:

A little cleaning, a little sanding and generous amount of Rustoleum Cold Galvanizing Compound:

and we now have this:
