FINALLY! The skating rink is about ready to open.

Is that all new construction, or did you guys go in and gut and rehab an existing rink? I'm a bit surprised at this though, I didn't think that roller rinks were really viable anymore, I know there's one around here but it looks like they've been running on fumes for the past few years, and I think the only reason they're still around is that they have been around forever and have probably long paid off any debts on the building...
Either way, it looks incredible you guys did a fantastic job on it.

It is completely brand new. New slab, building, wiring, everything. The last estimate I saw for the sound and lighting alone was between $70,000 and $80,000 by itself. We are charging $6 to get in, and $2 for skate rental, for every 2 1/2 hour session. Then there will be roller hockey, speed skating, etc... Money will come in slow after the first year, but it will be a mainstay in this town. We are putting the prehistoric skating rink here in town out of business the second we open our doors.

On a side note, our Street Deal or no Deal (small one) we have in the Plex building took in $20,000 by itself last year. We bought the Deluxe Deal or no Deal (big one) to go in The Plex now, and the Street one gets moved to the rink. The games will make a fair amount of the money back.

So freaking awesome. Man, I LOVED going skating as a kid. So many memories come back looking at those pictures.

I'm just the game guy, but I have a lot of say so in how everything gets done. Or, like my resume says "construction work is an insult to my intelligence". When I talk about how it SHOULD be done, theres lots of ears. LOL

You should invite the Missile Command guy from High Score to show his moves on opening night.

Best of luck to you! I hope you can keep profitable after the initial interest in a new rink dies down. Why was the blue floor color chosen?

That is what the boss wanted as far as color. You cant see it in the pics, but the floor reflects great with all the lighting. We have a large Air Force base here, and an Army artillary base just north of us, so there is plenty of steady customers. Birthday parties are gonna have us slammed for quite awhile.

DID I MENTION THAT YOU GET A FREE SET OF SKATES IF YOU ARE THE BIRTHDAY BOY/GIRL AND HAVE YOUR PARTY WITH US!!! LOL Thats gonna freak people out. Hell, I am gonna have my party here too. LOL

Sweet! I have many memories in the early 80's with skateing rinks as a kid.I rememeber the big huge disco lights and disco ball in the middle the song jack and diane blasting thru the speakers while you asked the hottest girl in your class to hold hands and skate around the rink man those were the fun days!

These pics are very cool, thanks for sharing. I worked at a skating rink / arcade growing up, and I was really sad when it was turned into a U-Haul rental center. I learned to french-kiss there, LOL!

It has been a long time coming for these guys. (the owner and his son) They are a little too touchy feely with the kids. They gots ta go. I am thinking that when they no longer have easy access to children, they will start actively "hunting" kids, and get caught. Yes, its that bad.

Just got the fluorescent carpet in.
