Hope I posted this in the right selection. I finally got a few freebies today. I received 2 NBA Showtime 4 player cabinets and 1 NFL Blitz 2 player cabinet today. The local operator just wanted them gone and I had purchased a game from him a few months earlier so he called me and asked if I would like them. Naturally I said yes sight unseen. I went and picked them up today and they are now resting in my garage. One Showtime cabinet was pretty empty but it had the hard drive and 2 of the game boards (not the video card). The other Showtime cabinet was complete and the Blitz was missing the main board. I started tinkering with the complete game and it would play blind. I found that the video was not connected to the monitor and I plugged it in. I turned it back on and to my surprise the game came up and started the demo. It wasn't NBA Showtime though it was Blitz 99. I am going to see if I can plug the other set of boards in and see what comes up. I checked the Roms on the second set and they say Showtime on them. I also looked at the hard drive in the working cabinet and it says Showtime/Blitz on it. Any info anyone could give me would be appreciated. I'm assuming that the blitz 2 player is also a med res game too.

I also know if there are no pics that it didn't happen. I will try to take some pics and figure out how to post them for proof.

Anyone interested in some Showtime/Blitz cabinets?????????

Free is good. I looked at them a little more and the Blitz is in a virtual Fighter cabinet. One of the Showtimes seems to be dedicated and the other looks like it is in an NBA Jams cabinet.

The Showtime cab is nice. I'd convert the NBA Jam back to NBA Jam. The third is a Virtua Fighter conversion. Might have a nice Nanao monitor in it.

I actually have an nba jams board but I really don't have the room for that size of a cabinet. I will probably be looking to trade the cabinets for something smaller and lighter. Those cabinets are HEAVY.

the showtime cabinet should have a vegas (3 piece board) in it. That board can be upgraded to play blitz/showtime. The hard drive labeled blitz/showtime is probably for that cabinet..

The nba jam cabinet probably has the single seattle board. The VF probably either.

Killer score on those. that showtime.. Looks nice..

If the virtua fighter works, it probably has a medium rez monitor in it. Possibly has a duel rez monitor(probably nanao ms8-26su) .

The showtime probably has a wells medium rez k7500.

As suggested, convert the nba jam back. Use the VF to help fix the showtime.

blitz 99 does not run on vegas hardware.

I have the dedicated showtime working but it is playing Blitz. I have a second set of Showtime boards from the converted NBA Jams cabinet minus the video card. I am going to try to swap the boards out and see what happens. All 3 cabinets have hard drives but I have only tested 2 of them. The one labeled Showtime/Blitz works. I tried to test one from the other showtime cabinet and it would not spin up. I may take the VF cabinet and try to put a gauntlet DL board set in it.

well, gauntlet adds an almost negative value to any cabinet... So its not worth the effort. you would be better off selling the parts..

if your cabinet is playing blitz 99, its not a vegas board. Its single board seattle.

the blitz2000/showtime vegas boards use a dipswitch to select the game. Only the showtime gold and blitz 2000 gold are selectable from the menu.

Is nice when you get all the paperwork with a game. I started looking through the Dedicated Showtime stuff and found the dip switch settings. After a flip of a dipswitch I now have Showtime and Blitz running on the cabinet.

+1 for the free stuff

I did look at the VF cabinet again and the Blitz in there is the single board. So in recap:

VF cabinet is complete with a blitz 99 single board kit in it (Nanao monitor in it)

NBA Jams cabinet has no monitor but came with a Showtime board minus the video card and a complete harness

The dedicated Showtime cabinet is complete with a Showtime/Blitz board and hard drive and is currently working.

Next thing is to Make an ISO of the hard drive so I have a backup and probably try to find a home for the NBA Jams Cabinet. Figure out if the Nanao monitor works and see if I can play some of my standard Jamma Games in it.

If you look at my Flickr pics you'll see the VF conversion I have. It started with a Blitz pcb, then Blitz 99, and it now has Blitz/Showtime Gold installed with the dips set to 2-player cab. The VF made nice little conversions for the original Blitz. I used a manual I obtained that Namco gave to their operators to convert their VFs when the original blitz first came out. Very nice conversions.

Yea I have the conversion manual, but I have decided to keep the dedicated showtime and part with the other 2 cabinets. I'm still debating if I am gonna pull the VF monitor. I'm not getting any neck glow but the blitz 99 plays blind.

Do you have the scan I put out or an original manual? I would have kept the same cabinet if I had to choose one. It looked nice. I would rebuild that monitor. But then again I really like those dual-rez Nanaos. They look beautiful after you recap them and stay looking good until caps start failing again.

If the op isn't too far away I'd bring him the quarters and let him know they were in the machine. Or mail a check. The op would most certainly call you again with free stuff or even a good deal.

Actually the OP needs some RAM and some hard drives for his bartops and I own a network consulting company in town. I am definitely gonna help him out with the parts he needs.

Either way, I'd still tell him about the money you found. He'll undoubtedly tell you to keep it, but your stock with him will go WAY up. You'll get it back later, for sure. If not from him, Karma will bring it back to you somewhere else.

There's nothing better than a person of integrity.
