Finally posting some pics of my arcade!

Just quoting you to say I love Mr. Bungle. They're one of my all-time favorite bands. I wish they'd get back together.
Alright, back on topic. That is one seriously badass arcade. I want black light carpet so bad. I need a bigger house first :)

lol yeah...hey man it could happen. Mike got Faith No More together again and I saw both shows they played over here. it was pretty.....epic :p.

Thanks for the comments!

how big is the room?
The larger room (blue) is ~17.5' x 21.5', and the smaller room (orange) is ~12.5' x 15.5'. Then the middle room is ~6' x 6.5'. So... total square footage is a little more than 600 sq ft of gameroom space (plus hall going into room, bathroom, etc).
That is an awesome arcade¡ Nowy arcade I feel motivated to finish my arcade.

Let us know when we can come over.

Yep... I'll definitely make a post as soon as I figure out a good date. I'm still out of town from travelling to Classic Gaming Expo, but when I get back I'll get a date figured out and let you guys know.
What brand/model of power strips did you end up using? Pretty trick.
I'm using Belkin Conserve power strips: http://www.belkin.com/conserve/switch/ . They sell them at Home Depot, but Amazon has them cheaper w/ free shipping (and no tax). They have dip switches to select which outlet you want to control, so I took one remote apart and hooked it up to a microcontroller, which controls the dip switches and on/off button (so it can select any power strip with just one remote). The computer talks to the microcontroller over USB, with the app telling it which power strip to turn on/off.

So does that mean I can buy 3 or so and control them all with a single remote switch? I just want to walk in my game room and throw one switch to have the whole thing come to life.

Ah, that would save me a lot of grief in turning on multiple machines. One switch and bam! :)

I wonder if I could get a universal remote to do something similar.

Looks nice and I like the Huey Lewis and the News vid on the projector.

Good eye!

You can use a single remote, though you'll have to switch the dip switches to each position, and then press on for each. It'll only turn one on at a time, since you select which strip to control with the dip switch.

Freakin sweet! I've had my eye on that Megabytes carpet for a while, I think it looks awesome and it isn't as common as a lot of other patterns. It looks twice as rad in a gameroom as I'd imagined!!

X10 with appliance modules and an RF receiver work great too. I have mine interfaced with crestron and its very easy to control, or use RF remotes.

If doing the X10, I suggest a coupler/repeater for the 2 phases most homes have, and they are cheap, like $25 shipped.

now THAT is worthy of gameroom magazine..

nice setup dogp!! You took your time and did it right. It looks fantastic and will get better as you add to it.

(btw where did you get your blacklite carpet and how much was it per sq.foot if you dont mind me asking?)

Like i said, gameroom magazine worthy.. ( have you seen some of the hokey a$$ gamerooms in there lately??)

Thanks... the blacklight carpet is made by Flagship. I bought it from School Outlet: http://www.schooloutlet.com/Megabytes_Specify_Color_Educational_Rug_p/fcmega1218.htm , though they've raised their price since I ordered... so there may be a cheaper place to get it from now. When I ordered it last year, the entire order came out to about $1500, w/ shipping.

Heh, funny that you mention Gameroom Magazine... I've been considering getting a subscription for a long time now, since I'm into arcades, gamerooms, etc... but I haven't gotten around to it yet, so no... I haven't seen any of the hokey a$$ gamerooms in there. ;)

Incredible!

nice arcade. i am just starting my own personal collection. Tomorrow as a matter of fact! I am buying a police 911 about 2 hours away from me. Does the sensor bar come off the top? I have NEVER bought or transported an arcade machine before. If it comes off what screw types are they? Thanks for your help!!

Sorry, I must have missed this post. I assume you've already gotten it by now, but the sensor bar does come off... there's bolts on the top, then security torx on the sides.

Thanks for the compliments guys!

Oh... BTW, I posted a video walkthrough of my arcade of my arcade on YouTube. I tried to keep it quick for us short attention span people ;) . For those with really short attention spans, you can still quickly scroll through all the pics here: http://www.projectvb.com/arcade/ :D .

Really nice setup! Love the carpet! Love Berzerk and Frenzy right next to each other. A nice, working Berzerk is one of my grails.
