Finally posting some pics of my arcade!

Anyone else's? I really need to start talking to more people in the area.

The layout looks really well planned so that there is plenty of space. Did you think of that before using sketchup? Any advice for those of us currently finishing a basement although my gameroom will be the size of your orange room. Anything you would change or should of done?

I don't know of any parties off hand, but I know that especially the MD guys seem to have parties/gatherings fairly often.

Yeah, it took a couple revisions to get the layout how I liked it... I laid the whole thing out in Visio. I wish I would have tried Sketchup first, though really, for a quick rough layout, Visio works well (I used the actual sizes for the large games, and an estimated average size game for all the regular arcades, and then added a "comfortable" standing room section in front of the games). I can't think of anything I wish I would have done, since I moved the games around several times to get it exactly how I wanted it... and probably if I figure out a better way, I'll move them again ;) .

In general though, the best thing was to get games facing sides of other games, that way you only need room for one person standing in front of the game, plus room to walk behind. My first layout had two lines of games facing each other, and when people were playing both, it was tough to walk through. It works okay for Paperboy and Ice Cold Beer though, since they're at the end of the row, so there's no need to walk through.

You got an awesome arcade. Hope to one day see it in person one day. That is if I can afford it!

Heh, yeah... it's VERY cool to hit "All On" and watch the whole arcade come to life :) .

Now you just need to include a webcam view of your power meter, so you can watch it start spinning when you fire them all up at once :)

BTW, I've got the games set up on remote controlled power strips, which I hacked to connect to the touchscreen jukebox... so I wrote a program to display the gameroom floorplan, you touch the section you want to control, then select on/off. Or you can do "All On" or All Off". Attached is a screenshot of that.

Awesome gameroom and the touchscreen part is really cool.

If you were closer, I'd swap a Frenzy cab for a Berzerk cab since you have two.

The only thing I didn't love was the Omega Race cockpit is stuffed in the corner but other than that it's fantastic!

Heh, yeah... but I have a 3 second delay between powering up each chunk of games, but when the whole arcade is on, it's drawing ~70A-80A.
What sort of cabinet is the KLAX in?
That's a Taito cab... like Qix, Jungle King, Elevator Action, etc. I'm not sure specifically which one, since the sides are painted, and I haven't dug around inside for tags.

Thanks... yeah, a dedicated Frenzy would be nice, but the conversion is okay. I think the Berzerk guys on the sides are cooler than the fart farting farts on the Frenzy anyway (like http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=868458 at 1:10) ;) . I do really like having both cabs, but if I need space for another game, I may try to get a Berzerk/Frenzy multi board... but for now I've got enough room for everything.

Yeah, I know... I'd rather have it out in the middle somewhere, but that corner was really wasted space, and having a cockpit to use up that space was better than anything else.

Just quoting you to say I love Mr. Bungle. They're one of my all-time favorite bands. I wish they'd get back together.
Alright, back on topic. That is one seriously badass arcade. I want black light carpet so bad. I need a bigger house first :)
