Finally Picked up Another DK Cocktail!

I tried putting back the original 5K chip with the new 5H chip and still get the same screen. Just wondering what could be the cause? You're mentioning sockets, which I suppose could be a possibility at 5H, because swapping out two different chips in that position and getting the exact same Screen means it's probably not the chip yeah?
It's probably not the eproms themselves. I probably mentioned this already, but earlier 4 board stacks used these awful texas instruments that always cause headaches. If they have those. I'd start there. Otherwise I'd be trying to be probing the chip selects of those eproms.

Replacing sockets sounds like such a fucking chore right now. But I suppose I have no choice.

OK, bad news. Mark Capps said his burner is down so he can't burn me the chip, and Steph just contacted me and told me that Canada Post went on strike and there's no way to ship from Canada to the US. If he uses any other courier, there could be a large fee that I'd have to pay before I could take delivery. Does anyone else in the states have the ability to burn This 2716 chip at 5K on the 4-board stack? Anyone? I didn't think it would be this difficult.
All of my eprom burning gear is still up and running, and I can do 2716's. Before you go too much further, it would be important to read and verify the roms first. No sense in replacing chips that read with correct checksums.

I'm not sure you're intrested in it but I have a couple of those DK remix kits sitting on the shelf. I had them on my games but I purchased the 3DK kits which was the coolest kit to ever happen to Donkey Kong. So they are just sitting in a box.. now.. but they offer free play and high score save, and the remix version of DK. Free if you want them

Yeah, I suppose I'd have to send this off to you. I have no ROM reading or burning equipment.

Hell yeah, I'd take one. Thanks buddy!

So the Canada/tax tariff thing must've been figured out cause Steph finally sent me my 2716 chip for position 5K. This was something that I kind of forgot I had purchased and was waiting on shipping. Steph basically told me he was probably going to end up refunding me so in the meantime I had gotten a chip from someone else. That same individual also sent me a 2716 for 5H. So I left the reprogrammed 5H in place, and then threw Steph's reprogrammed 2716 at 5K on the board. Replacing both 5K and 5H, here's what I get:

And that screen is similar but different than what I had originally:

…and after I replaced just 5K the first time:

Well, I'm done trying to fix this myself. Ready to send this off to someone as I don't wanna have to undo and redo those little connectors any more than I have to. Thought I'd pick this game up about a month ago for my kids to play and I haven't been able to properly play the game once yet. I have spent a lot of time taking the board in and out of the machine though.

So I have another issue on this machine. I had three different Takigen keys, but for the life of me could not get the coin box open on this machine so I decided to drill the lock out. That process alone took three drillbits and about an hour of my time. An absolute nightmare. Once I was done, I decided to replace it with another Takigen lock that I have sitting here. But no matter what I do, I cannot get the cam to properly lock the coin door. I'm using the original cam and the same size lock, but it just will not fall into place. So as of right now, I've got the lock pulled so I can at least close the door somewhat. I've never seen anything like this.

The door on those early Nintendo doors are really weird. You have just BARELY enough room with the coin bucket. You might have to bend the lock latch just a little bit.

Same experience on both of my red tents. All the locks on those machines including the hoods have VERY little clearance.

I end up having to slightly bend each one just a little to get them to fully rotate and latch.

I meant to reply to this thread a little while back as well. I also picked up one, yet somebody had spray paint at the top glass black, which looks okay, but I converted it to a DK red. The monitor is giving me tons of trouble. But the board seems to be alive I'll be with some issues
