Nope, I was sending a lower offer and somebody must've paid his asking price. Oh well, I really want a mini to be honest with you so if one of those pops up, let me know.

OK Steve got back to me and I've ordered the chip. Hopefully it's here in about a week and I can get this bastard working properly.

OK, bad news. Mark Capps said his burner is down so he can't burn me the chip, and Steph just contacted me and told me that Canada Post went on strike and there's no way to ship from Canada to the US. If he uses any other courier, there could be a large fee that I'd have to pay before I could take delivery. Does anyone else in the states have the ability to burn This 2716 chip at 5K on the 4-board stack? Anyone? I didn't think it would be this difficult.

Have you checked with Mike or Tony at Mike's Arcade? They've been able to burn chips for me in the past.

I would totally do it for you but I don't have any of these chips. BuyICnow.com is reliable, but it's from china so it takes a week or 2.

Well, that is a really good suggestion. Charles has helped me out plenty of times. I'm just really flabbergasted with how many obstacles have popped up trying to get this one chip. Kind of reminds me of that time they did a background check on you when you tried to get a job at your kid's school.

OK, had some 2716 chips burned for 5H and 5K, installed them and this is what I get now.

So I think I'm gonna try to put the original 5K back and just leave the reburned 5H in place and see what happens. I wish there weren't 562 connections to undo and redo every time.

Dumb question but does pushing on the socketed chips while its running affect anything? Could be the sockets aren't making good contact, if you have the skill to desolder those sockets and not rip up traces could be a good place to start. Those single wipes are notoriously bad, looks to me like if you resocket everything it'll probably run fine. The fact it's worse after sticking the new chips in seems to confirm to me the sockets are worn out.

OK, pulled the new chip back out at 5H, and saw one of the chip legs was bent under. I got the leg straightened out, put it back in and now it looks exactly like it did before I swapped it out.

I tried putting back the original 5K chip with the new 5H chip and still get the same screen. Just wondering what could be the cause? You're mentioning sockets, which I suppose could be a possibility at 5H, because swapping out two different chips in that position and getting the exact same Screen means it's probably not the chip yeah?
