Finally Joined the Tempest Club... Wednesday Pick Up

Finally joined the club.
Picked up this Tempest. It has everything (vector, boards).

When plugged in it shows the "spot killer" on the monitor. So I am going to have to tinker with it to get it going. Could be the board, monitor, power supply or all of the following LOL!

As far as aesthetics go it needs:
New Marquee
New CP overlay.
New Tempest Buttons for FIRE and ZAPPER.
MAYBE a better Coin Door (or mechs, mine is missing everything)

What's a "spot killer" ??? I'm having trouble diagnosing mine.

Spot Killer is the little white dot on your vector monitor when you turn it on. Could be from your board not working, or something with the monitor. Anyway, I have one right now and have to fix it.
Best NOT to leave it on if you have one, because you will burn a dot in your screen because of the high concentration there.

Haha well this friend is super cool...I've spent a grand total of $100 between 4 cabs (TRON, Q*bert, Asteroids Deluxe and Tempest) from him...its just too bad he's gotten rid of his entire collection (See my Sad Day in Arcadeland thread for details).

nice pickup. so does the tempest play blind at all?

You know, I have only had it on for a few seconds as I have not had time to mess with it. All I have done is check to see if everything is there and do a quick clean up on it.

It does get the "spot killer" on the monitor, and the player 1 and 2 red lights flash. But I have not pushed anything to see if it coins.
Actually, there are NO coin mechs for it to coin up. I am going to put it into free play and try it now.

Board might be bad. The RED light on the board stays on.
However, I turned ALL dip settings to OFF accept for (N13) 8 which is free play.
No sound.
