Finally got zapped today...

Capped a Nintendo chassis today, and when I had the monitor out to test it I reached back to adjust the RGB on the neck board. I have no clue what I touched, but got the shit shocked out of me (and the monitor reset to boot). I have a nice little cluster of red dots burned into my forearm, heh. Holy shit it woke me up.

At least I'm not scared of monitors anymore

Time for a drink...

That would be B+ that got you my friend! Could also have been focus voltage but I doubt it.

Ahhhh I remember when I did that. Grabbed the neck board and pushed it from the solder side with my fingers while the game was ON! Dammit, well I wanted to see if that would fix the Galaxian so I could get a few games in. Nothing compared to the shock, the horrid stench of burning flesh, and the pin holes burned into my index finger. I had around 4 or so holes which were from the solder side sticking into my skin.

good times.

Now that would hurt! Holy crap.

Lucky you. I've yet to be hit my HV (knock on wood) though I've gotten hit by the voltage in the neckboard... and I've been hit by the power that runs pinball flipper coils... still bothersome, but not life threatening.

I once grabbed onto an electric fence that had a slow pulse....

Thought My brother kicked me....

I didn't realize that all of the sudden pain in my leg was from the charge.

Arent there certain caps that still hold a big charge that you have to watch out for when replacing? How do you discharge them?

filter cap on the go7 if the HOT and F901 are blown. some guys use a standard houhold bulb across the leads to bleed it out , I just short an old screw driver across the leads (myself I like the pop and spark :) )
