Back from vacation and finally got a chance to see my Journey. Excellent cabinet, no water damage, the sideart, bezel, and marquee are in great shape. The CPO is cracked from age and will be replaced (ordered one last night). Works great except for the sound (which the seller disclosed when I bought it). It even had all the original paperwork in it. The game was originally sold to Aladdin's Castle in Indy, serial number 1101. I am very pleasantly surprised at the great condition of it. The only question I asked the seller when he said $150 firm on the price was where do I send the Paypal, so I didnt know what to expect. Pictures are here:

Im not a fan of the game but that is a serious, serious score. When you take in to account the condition and rare factor, that is the best score i have seen in a long long time.

Damn! That is killer! Big fan of the group, and of the game. Gonna get me one in the spring with tax rebate...gonna need it because I doubt I'll find a deal like that! DAMN!

Super Sweet Score!

I always wondered how the tape player worked and even moreso now that I see it's only a run of the mill cassette player. Is it a special tape? Does it somehow play at certain times/certain songs? Does it auto-rewind? HOW I say?!?

That is definitely the best deal I have heard of in a while. I wonder if someone is going to put out a new Rom version that swaps Steve Perry with the new mini singer Arnel Pineda who soulds a hell of a lot like him.

Looks like it has a remote jack, which plays the tape on demand. The tape must be a looping tape, which just keeps playing and doesn't need to be rewound.

What a freaking score that was. You were right to just ask where to send the money - can't believe the deal you got with a complete cab that actually works!

Yeah, this is one of those "dream" deals... seriously... have you had someone pinch you? You may still be sleeping! :D

Congratulations! :beerchug:

Yeah, I am still amazed that I got it. When I found the ad on Craigslist it was two weeks old! I figured it had to be sold and almost passed out when the guy said he still had it. The gameplay is so cheesy that it is actually fun. Fits perfectly into my lineup of games and pins with classic rock themes which is the main reason I was looking for one.

Yeah, I remember playing this BITD and almost throwing up. :D The only reason I played it was a girl I knew liked it so I would point scab and put her initials up for the high score. Man... the silly things we did when we were young.:26:

Very nice indeed. Tell me guys, what was the cassette tape in this machine used for? I tried playing Journey on MAME today but I don't hear any live music or anything like that which I would expect with a cassette.

Congrats.

Scott C.

IIRC it's a regular tape recorder/player that turns on(power only because "PLAY" was always pressed in)powered by the Journey pcb when it reaches the "bonus" type level/screen. it plays a 30 sec loop tape of Journey's song "Seperate Ways" i believe!

maybe someone can verify this statement.....
