I don't know if this is a huge deal for you DK owners, but after 2.5 years of owning DK, I finally found OEM buttons in great shape. No cigarette burns, little to no fading or scratches.

Thanks to r5g for the great deal and packing/shipping them so well.

Noticeable differences in Mike's buttons compared to OEM (good or bad depending on your preference), some that have already been discussed in previous threads:

- Much brighter in color
- More of a rounded edge
- Less concave
- Sits a little lower in the base
- Less "springy" and a little more soft upon touch.

I can definitely feel the difference and wish I had found these sooner.

I just got some for mine, too (though mine aren't as nice and shiny as yours).

I agree, you can definitely tell the difference when you're playing.

I just novused up some blue ones last night for my DK Jr. restore.

If you decide to repro those, I will definitely buy a set. :)

Haha. Me? I wish.

It would be awesome if someone could do an exact repro including the spring, but doesn't seem realistic, like many KLOV repro wish lists.

Just keeping looking, Paul. It only took me 2.5 years (on and off). :D

I tried to get these reproed, but most people just said something to the effect of "Mike's are close enough." And as OCD as some people are about what they put on and in their games, this was surprising. I figured there would be a lot more interest for accurate repros.

actually I think repros of these would make a good deal of money. Yes they would require a good investment up front but i believe they would be pretty easy to sell and not only break even but turn a profit. I know personally I could use about 6 sets and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

I think they are fine with close enough until they have the legit option. Once available i believe they will line up to buy the real thing.

Somebody did a pretty decent repro maybe 7-8 years ago, they're currently what I have on my DK. I don't recall who had made them. I think they did an early Tron joystick repro as well - Specialty Plastics was it?

I even had originals ready to offer up to someone who wanted to repro them and I got no responses. I guess the community will have to have a huge interest thread to get the ball rolling on these being produced.

Yeah, I was one of the guys who felt Mike's were good enough, but after looking and playing on nice OEM buttons, there really is no comparison.

If I were to own another Nintendo cab that needed these buttons due to damage or wear, I would search even harder to find nice OEM buttons. I would even consider buying a spare complete control panel if it had nice OEM buttons.

I agree with you Dan. Had someone come along and reproduced these and sold them at a good price ($10/button?) I would have bought them in a heartbeat. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

We need to find this guy. Oh, and pics or it didn't happen. You know the rules. :)

:D Swiped this pic from Jeff Rothe's page which he took from the original Specialty Plastics site:

From my memory, the ones I got were a little lighter blue than that. I can try to snap some pics later.

Haha, I was kidding. I trust you dude! But man, that blue one looks spot on. It's kind of hard to tell with the orange one, but if it's built the same, then that's awesome.

Man, too bad this Specialty Plastics guy isn't around anymore. Do you remember how much he was charging per button?

Too late :D Here's the Specialty Plastics repros on mine - had a heck of a time getting a halfway decent pic. Doesn't really do them justice. It looks like I paid $17.50 plus shipping for all 3.

Sweet. $17.50 is a great deal. You should track down Mr. Specialty Plastics and tell him there is a need. He probably couldn't care less though.

I just finished a light Novus 1 polish and installed them. Mmm...OEM...

I am also a stickler for the originals, and would buy multiple sets of new accurate repros as well.

Jess, your originals cleaned up beautifully. Stunning.
