So long story short, I picked up a really decent-shape Galaga with a bad monitor (and some hacked up wires here and there), to replace our in-progress Galaga restoration cab. Swapped out the monitor, fixed a few of the wires (none of them were on the main harness) and it booted up like a dream. That is, till I tried adding credits. Coin door lit up fine and the Molex connectors are hooked up properly, yet somehow its jacked up. Coin switches, test switch, credit switch etc don't work, and neither does the control panel, save for one this....pushing the joystick to the right adds credits. Start and Fire don't work. Weirdest damn error I've ever seen. Just to make sure I wasn't being completely idiotic, I swapped the board the came with it with my other Galaga board...same issue.

Any ideas where I can trace down this issue to?

Sounds like you might have the edge connector on backwards? Coin Switch is the 9th position from one end, and joystick right is the 9th position from the other end.

Check to make sure the majority of the wires on the edge connector are on the end of the edge connector labeled as Pin 1/A.

The video will come up fine with the edge connector on backwards because power and video are done through the separate molex connectors...

Oh. My. God. I am completely stupid.
