It's been a long time coming. It's not in the best shape, as you'll see from the pictures, but it works, the monitor looks good, and most of the inside is reasonably clean. Restoring it will take a bit of work, so I'll likely be starting restoration thread at some point, when I have the time to work on this thing.

Anyway, on to the pics!

The sides show most of the damage...

Someone painted over the front...I'm thinking it was converted to a Street Fighter of some kind at one point. I guess I should be glad they decided to not paint over the sides, at least. It was probably between two other cabinets anyway.

I'm not expecting this to work...and I don't think I want to put my memory card in there to find out...

Nice... welcome to the club!!!

Fadded CPO or strong flash? It does look good and intact now...
Time to start collectiong carts. Let me know if you want a good deal on Blazing Star... It's a top shooter for the system.

*EDIT* Just cause this thread has some serious legs, I'm going to edit this post of mone #3 to include some important resources that I keep bookmarked. This is in case new NG users/owners find this thread.

the great neo geo site, forums and price guide for carts etc...

I thought you already had one? Didn't I send you a MVS cart as part of secret santa a few years ago?

Or did you just have a board that you used in another cab?

Either way, nice pick up. I enjoyed mine for a while, but didn't play it enough to keep it around.

Hey now, I'm no Neo Newbie! I've been running a single slot boards in my jamma cabinet for years now. And these are just the ones in shockboxes and my kits :D I might be interested in the Blazing Star, though :)

Awesome! I just picked up a very nice 2-slot myself a couple weeks ago...

Yep, and...did you? Someone sent me a 100-in-1 cart a few years ago - was that you?

Nice one, Mattroid!

I just picked up a Big Red just like yours this week. Neo Geos are poppin' up everywhere!

Mine is in need of a cleanup and a power supply, which is on order. Fingers crossed everything is working!

Congrats on your pick-up! The NEO GEO is a SWEET system for sure. Mine gets TONS of love in the basement.

Here's mine:

Nice! It doesn't look too terrible.

I'm still looking for one. You seem 'em everywhere, then when you're ready to buy, can't find one. They're all conversions or beat to hell. I really want to find a mini, but I haven't seen any for sale.

Thanks everyone! I've been wanting one for a long time, so it was pretty exciting to see one pop up right around the corner from me. I really wish the sides were in better shape, but it's not the end of the world. I just hope I can find some stencils for the side art - I don't want to use decals or anything.

Nope, I just sent you a World Heroes cart with the rest of your SS stuff.

Oh yes, and I have still have that, I believe! I want to say I had WH already, but my cart wasn't all that wonderful to look at, so I kept the one you gave me and sold the old one. Oh, and I still have the little Mario keychain next to me at my desk. It doesn't make any noise anymore, as the batteries are long since dead...I should change them :)

It's like Show me your BIG RED up in here....

I have another MVS 4-25 v1 to work on next.
I also have a converted red "Angle Cab" that I converted to a 2 slot that's not worth showing.

OK, that's a nice shock box collection. I've thought about getting shock boxes but with all of the printing and everything man it would be quite an expensive endeavor.

I have a bunch of cheap collection filler carts and "just to play" boots if anyone is interested. The Blazing Star carts are all original as there are no boots of this game. I have a couple of extra Magical Drop 2 also.

Mattroid - also if you are looking for a set of just button tops for the Neo Geo in the correct color scheme, I can put together the 11 buttons set of new Happ style tops for like $5 +shipping

Nice Neos, man! And yep, this thread seems to have turned into a Show me your Neo thread...which I'm fine with - keep 'em coming! :D Though EVERYONES' are better than mine :(

Yeah, shocks can get expensive, but I've usually just ordered them as needed, so I look at it as part of the game price. I have the means to print my own inserts now, so that helps a bit, and I often just buy carts with shocks so that part of the work is already done :p

I should probably take you up on the buttons. I have a few spares, but not all of the ones needed, so it doesn't hurt to have some more extras. I need to look at the sticks on this thing too. They may just be loose or need new switches, as one side feels a little 'off' to me.

I took some photos of the back and insides...is there some reason the middle parts of the back don't easily come off? I mean, I suspect the 'reason' would be so that it's harder to break into and steal the carts, but wtf? I can't even tell how I'd attach the latches on the CP if I have to do it from the top like that.

Is that standard for these cabs? The back pieces appear to be stapled on. What's the best way to get the motherboard out so I can look it over without tearing the entire back of the cabinet off? :p

I've really enjoyed working on my v3. I just ordered replacement electroluminescent panels for the marquee.
