My wife is very supportive of my hobby. Since I started, she's gotten me a lot of artwork and parts on special occasions. She doesn't mind having games in the house as long as I keep them in my man cave downstairs and on one side of the garage. Though, with all that said, she's not really into games. She has her own DS Lite and doesn't mind playing Wii every once and a while, but it's just not her thing.

However, I fired up Vs. Balloon Fight tonight on the Red Tent and asked her if she wanted to try it out. Normally, she wouldn't, but she was intrigued by the attract screen. It was easy for her to learn since there's only the joystick and 1 button to use. I just told her not to get caught underneath the enemies.

We had a lot of fun and she was pleasantly surprised. She beat me a couple of rounds, but I was holding our baby in one arm so she had a handicap. Since she's a graphic designer, maybe now this will be motivation for her to help me make a custom Vs. Balloon Fight Instruction Card. :)

Do you guys have a favorite arcade game that you play with your spouse or significant other? I think I just found ours.

Play together .... nothing really, i might take things to seriously sometimes ha.

But my wife likes these arcade titles so far DK3/Burgertime/Bubblebobble and loves redemption stuff, i dont even want to start on that lol.

She plays console stuff and dsl a little more though.

I am in the process of getting her and i a dk3 and burgertime if i can find some in my area. Also i would love to get her a crane game.

My GF Michele has recently discovered my Mousetrap machine. She's gotten to level 3 so far and just reached a high of 60,790 earlier tonight. :D

At a fellow collectors house, she enjoys Star Wars, Metal Slug 2, Bust A Move, Pooyan, and Burgertime.

She also dabbles in mame, in particular, Super PacMan, Eyes, Road Runner, and Wonderboy.

It's great to have a "gaming gal"!

Kyle

Vs. Ballon Fight... a cheerful, fun game no wonder your wife likes it. Yeah go for her good side on the games find more she likes then you'll get more support! :)

Nice boba Helmet by the way. Is that yours?

I originally bought my 1 slot Neo Geo for the wife because it had Puzzle Bobble in it. She really enjoys it.

Her favorite game would be Dr. Mario. She is so damn good at it that she beats me all the time. I really hate Dr. mario...lol

She actually asked me "Do you have any more games like this?" Other than Mario Bros., I couldn't say "Yes." She told me to look for more. I guess I need to get Vs. Tennis, Vs. Wrecking Crew, etc. Haha. She also wants to get a Ms. Pac-Man eventually since she remembers playing it and it's a game she is familiar with. Not sure if I''ll go with the UR or cocktail.

No, not my helmet. That picture was taken at Walt Disney World MGM Studios at the Star Tours gift shop during our honeymoon in 2007. I felt like buying it, but I didn't want to carry or wear it the rest of the trip. I ended up getting the Star Wars Trilogy Special Edition posters that I framed and put up in my game room. My bio picture on my website with me on the speeder bike was also taken outside Star Tours. Good times.

My girlfriend has recently fallen in love with pinball. The Addams Family is her favorite at the moment.

As far as the vids, Donkey Kong is the only one she'll get near.

Most women dig games like that... I bet she wouldn't got anywhere near Joust if you had it... even though it's pretty much the "same game" (settle down Williams fanboys). I think it's the cutesy graphics that do it.

There are always a few oddballs, but on average (IME, I like keeping tabs on who plays what at the arcade) it seems women like Pac/MsPac, pretty much any puzzle game (Dr. Mario, Tetris, Puzzle Bobble, etc), Golden Tee, Monkey Ball, and for some reason... pinball machines. If you want to get your wife/gf involved, pick up a couple of those, it'll keep her happy.

But, if you have a wife that like something like Robotron, Black Widow, Tempest, or any other of the truly great classics... you're a lucky man. If you have a girlfriend that likes them... get a ring and consider yourself lucky, she's a keeper.

I'm pretty fortunate to have a g/f that supports me in regards to my arcade game collecting. She's not too big into games, although I have a feeling once I restore my Frogger she will play it quite a bit,as she's told me she remembers playing that game back in the day.And yeah, she is a keeper! :D

HAHAHAHAHAHA! Well said man.

I completely forgot about frogger and skeeball. My wife loves those. When we went to funspot last year she wanted to play frogger but Pat Laffaye played the entire time. I thought she was going to kill him, only thing that saved his life was.... Deal or No Deal Redemption.

Significant Other

My g/f is hooked on Lady Bug on my multi-cade and she is actually really good, 279,000, which would rank her roughly 6th on the twin galaxies list, I've tried to her to play other games - she likes Q-bert but I don't think she will give up on Lady Bug until she reaches 300,000

The only game that the soon to be wife and I play together is Big buck safari. She doesn't like the standard size cab though she only really likes playing it on the deluxe 42" screen version. It doesn't matter where we are if she happens to see the game a $5 bill is going in it so we can play.

Anyone know where to find the deluxe version cheap?

Joust IS my wife's game. I got the cab just for her and she is as good now as she was bitd in the arcades. But I have been playing it more often so now I rule the Ostrich roost around here. Lately she has been playing Joust 2 on mame but it is more fun for me watching her play than actually playing it myself.

For me, I grew up with Balloon Fight on the NES, and every time I tried to play Joust it felt like I was working too hard and steering the knight through molasses.. Maybe if I grew up on Joust, Balloon Fight would feel too responsive/slippery... but they definitely play very differently.

To contribute, my GF will play DK and DK JR and Xmen VS Street fighter with me, and she'll play the 60 in 1 sometimes too. She gets bored with the DK games though because I'm a lot better than her (though not very good) and it can take a long time for her turn to come.

My wife is really good at Q*bert, she almost reached 10 million on it before it locked up, but she can regularly get into the millions when she wants to. She is bored with it now and says it's too easy. She likes Ms Pac lately because her brother has been getting good at it and she likes a little competition. She also likes chip away on the Megatouch Maxx. She tried Asteroids for awhile, but got a little frustrated that she couldn't get her name up on the scoreboard, she won't touch Tempest which is my favorite.
