To clarify, it's a fluke that *any* game was referred to as "appealing to women." Galaga, Ms. Pac, Centipede, Tetris, whatever.She only ever made one game, so how can you definitely call it a fluke? A fluke is when you are lucky once out of many tries. She nailed it on her first try and never tried again because of the dumb masculine attitudes that were rampant (and still are) in the game industry. She left the industry because of people like you calling it a fluke and trying to give all the credit to a man.
For discussion's sake, let's say that she created the game alone and could do it again. Crying "masculine attitudes" and giving up is an awfully humongous cop out. If she was that good, seems like the thing to do would be to create more successful games on her own to really stick it to the man and show those guys up. If nothing else, it's a steady pay check. Like you said, people take credit for others' work all the time, in every sector. But most people can't walk away from their livelihood.
Ed Logg on the other hand has a very well known string of mega hit games.
