I've always wanted some cool carpet for the gameroom, but after checking the carpet store, I put that idea on hold as the $700 price tag for half the room was WAY over my budget. Tuesday my wife found some used carpet at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore (donated from a closed Movie Gallery video rental store). So, we bought enough to do the whole upstairs of the garage and the steps going up, all for $225 (discounted for a bulk deal). I'm curious what everyone else has done for flooring and at what cost?

I'll post some finished pictures once I get the games all moved back. :D

Heres mine. Thats a good deal. Carpet looks great. I got a good deal on mine when Walmart was selling it from Joy Carpets. I got it for way less than it is now.

Man, those are both awesome. It's funny to me that one of the things I remember best about my local arcade is the carpet that it had in it.

Great carpets! I don't have anything special and probably won't :(

BTW, D. Very cool optical illusion when scrolling your picture down, it looks like it is zooming in. Freaked me out the first couple of times.:hail:

I thought the same thing, I've had painted plywood for several years now. This deal just happened due to my wife's watchful eye. They still have 2 rolls left and I may have 1 extra roll for those people close to Charleston, WV.

I'm working on the second section of room now, barely enough room to get the games off the area I am working on. My old floor can be seen in the front, brown painted plywood.

When on my trip from GA to CA, I stopped by Astro Carpet Mills main headquarters and bought a remnant roll. The roll was 20x35 and just enough to cover my new game room remodel. It's called fiddle faddle, it's black light reactive, and out of all the carpet they had available on last minute notice, this one did the best in black light.

If i were to do a game room again, I'd probably go with another design, definitely take my time and try to fit it into a theme. Sometimes black light game room carpeting forces you to follow a theme that might not match the overall concept. For now, this works. If I recall, I paid around .30/sq ft. The price was too amazing not to pass up, especially since I had a box truck with me and was headed back west.

MacP, is that a Cyclone pin I see in that pile 'o games???!??? I bought one recently and just got a set of used ramps for it (courtesy of pindork). I may need to hit you up for some pictures if I get stuck putting it back together. A very underrated pin from the little I have been able to play (they had one at the Texas Pinball Festival, but it would reset randomly :( ).

Indeed it is, and yes it doesn't always get the love it deserves!
Anytime on pictures, just let me know. Also, gotta recommend a speaker upgrade on it, the bass on the game is amazing, the mystery wheel shakes the floor when it's running and the tuba sounds really jump out. :D

AG, the carpet is really nice! At 30 cents, your price was in line with mine. Very sweet deal on new carpet!! (vs. my used buy)

Just doesn't feel like an arcade without that floor model change machine does it?:D

Everything looks good but you need to do something about that Centipede CPO.

LOL, I was wondering how fast someone would see that!
Centipede just arrived a week ago, it had a nasty rusted door and wasn't fully working. Already replaced the doors and got a fully working board installed. New rollers and bearings in the trackball too. So making progress, CPO is the next to-do, got distracted with the carpet! :D

The change machine is definitely a cool side item!
The kids love the Chuck E Cheese token cups too!

I just got to restoring my Centipede upright tonight. Just scrubbed all the dirt out of the thing. I still need the CPO and I need to do something about the bottom corners of the cabinet. I'm not looking for perfect with this thing just nice enough. So yeah I know how it goes with this stuff LOL. I hope to get the thing functional in the next 30 days. I found a bunch of paperwork in the thing telling me where it was located when cleaning tonight. Also found a date when it was first functional on sight and it was like august 21 or something like that of 81 I think so that's my goal date.:D

That carpet looks good. There was a Movie Gallery about 8 miles away (vs 0.75 for Blockbuster) but I would go there when BB p*ssed me off, which was a lot :). So I remember that carpet.

I need to figure out what I am doing between the game room, the garage, storage and craigslist. So it may be a while before I get to finisihing up the Cyclone, but I appreciate the offer on photos. I took a bunch at the Texas Pinball Show, but you know how it goes, I am probably missing the one shot that shows the detail that will hang the whole project up :).

I know I've shown this before, but yes it's on the 2nd floor.
The option to remove games really wasn't there as it's quite the production to take in or out.
This UMKIII has since been sold.

Nice pic. Have you since added an elevated deck with steps or something similar?
