.........ok not really anywhere close to a grail. :D

But got it for free. And I like how small the cab is. And how easy it is to change the monitor from vertical to horizontal(pull out and flip).

So any suggestions on what to do with it. Conversion suggestions? It's not a bad cab, it's just that the game board is DOA and i've the tried Alien Syndrome out on Mame, and it's not really all that fun. (In my opinion though, not trying to knock on those that like the game...)

I've already got a 60 in 1 cab. So looking for other suggestions(I have the monitor shroud and glass, it's just not on in the picture)...

What do you think? This is what the cab looks like. Just a standard Sega Cab.

Let me know any suggestions!! (Other than burn it, that is....lol)

well, your missing the plastic eyes/mouth that goes ontop of the cab..

control panel is pretty much open to drill and do anything including SF setup..

I would check the harness to see if you have any extra unused wires already in the harness. It might be very easy to add a button or two.

If you were closer, I'd like to work out a trade for your cab, nice score!

Since it's got SEGA on the cab put a SEGA Genesis or Saturn in it and wire up the controls to the buttons on the cab. Cut out a cartridge slot on either side of the SEGA logo on the control panel. If you're not into SEGA systems then wire the cab for JAMMA and add some extra buttons.

I would say sell it complete to someone that will enjoy it for what it is. Though, not a heavily sought game, it is still a fun game. If that cabinet it what I think it is, then that is another one found and converted. :(

BTW, I have the eye/mouth topper for it.

I didn't know that many people liked this game. I just kind of find it boring. But to each his/her own I suppose.

The harness is the same number of wires as a jamma. Just no where near the right order.

And I can understand some people saying save it or return it to it's former glory.....but to be honest it's not a sought after game or at least enough for anyone to want to buy or trade for it. Much less come to the middle of Nebraska to do so. It's missing the rear panel and the monitor that came with it was beyond shot. (the one in the pic is one I had just purchaced as an extra monitor)

However, these are great suggestions so far.

Put me on the list of boring people. I really liked Alien Syndrome (and the cabinet...one of the few with a topper). It's a case of a really simple concept done well. Find as many survivors as possible, scramble for the exit before time expires.

AS fans should also check out Alien 3 for the Genesis (not SNES...screw that version).

I'd totally love to bring one of those back, although you're correct: there aren't many AS fans out there. :p

Do you have any close-up pics of the CP, underside of the CP, then just below it into the cabinet? I am willing to bet there is or was a light socket below the CP.

Honestly Alien Syndrome is just a modern, raster version of Major Havok. :> Yes, I like both games!

It is? I take my quote back then. Don't use it as a multijamma (even though it is not jamma). Keep it and fix it or sell it! :D
LOL! Just for any folks reading this in the future... Alien Syndrome was one of those games SEGA licensed to Sun Corporation of America to sell as a kit. The marquees included in the kit list both SEGA and Sun. I am curious which marquee this particular cabinet shows.

I actually like A.S. I played one new at a Aladdin's Castle when it was brand new.

Me personally I would keep it as a A.S. You don't see them too often anymore and occasionally that topper pops up on Ebay if you need/want one....

This one is an Actual Sega version as Sun is not listed on the Marquee and it says It's designed and Manufactured by Sega on the Bezel sticker. It's number 11366. This is not a Sun conversion.

There is a socket underneath the control panel. I'll have to get a bulb in there and light it up.

The PCB is shot though, as it's not working at all. Switcher is working great and everything else, but the PCB doesn't work.

The overlay probably needs to be replaced as there are chunks missing where it sits over the plexi glass. And it's split at that part also.

This doesn't have the topper either.

hmmmm.....

I am curious to know where the light socket is in relation to the CPO instructions? Is there a piece of plexi-glass built into the CPO (look at the underside), so the light shines through it illuminating the CPO instructions? This is how it was done for Choplifter and that cabinet looks an aweful lot like the dedicated Choplifter cabinets. Perhaps SEGA used the same cabinets? They were only a year different, so that makes sense.

BTW, does the top of your cabinet have the screw holes from where the topper would have been attached?

Thanks for the pics. That is a nice looking cabinet and definitely the same as the dedicated Choplifter. The CP is the give-away.

If I were closer I would serioulsy be tempted to get this from you to sit next to my Quartet 2 (converted Choplifter) cabinet. The dedicated AS cabinets don't show-up too often, so hopefully you will find someone to buy it or trade you for it.
