Thanks to airlair for posting the CL ad. I had to drive a long way to Mentor, OH but it was worth it. The cab is in pretty nice condition. The topper is also in great shape. A little tweaking and I will get it working again. Scratch another one off the list.

I remember seeing that one on the local CL.
Very nice!
Looks like your going to have to update your signature....

This is one of those cockpits that to me is just arcade perfection. I can see no other way to own or play this game. Those that play the upright and claim the game is ok, or boring, or nothing special, have never played the cockpit. It's the way I played this game back in 1986 during Jr. Bowling league, and it's the cab I have now. I love it. Yours has the topper which is a sweet bonus. I'd put the PP cockpit in the same league with the Star Wars cockpit any day.

I agree 100% Can't wait to sit in it and be able to here "Prepare to Qualify" in that sweet muffled voice.

Nice score! I would love to find one of those and transplant my UR parts to it. My UR cab is so-so. I have a working PCB though and that's the more rare part.

Cockpit is definitely the way to go...if you have a choice. It's how I played the game back in the days as well. I don't have the space though, so I gotta live with my upright.

With the topper? That's sweet.

Amen brother! The cockpit cabinet is the only way to play Pole Position. There was one in Bally's Lemans in Columbus, NE in 1983. It was so cool. I was 7 and my dad took me there when I did well in school. In the same way, I am never 100% happy when I play my Super Pac cocktail. That's because I played the upright at the same place. But, I can settle until I find an upright.

BTW: that arcade is now a Sylvan Learning Center and a ceramics store. Has been for a long time. :(

Congratulations! Awesome find!

PP was it back in the day, and it holds up so well. The sound effects are great, and the game is hard!

I have played the upright and cockpit, and I love them both. I though I recall a simpler bench sit-down version too.

I was waiting for someone to comment on that. I said that being somewhat sarcastic. We will see what happens.
