Finally Finished my Moon Patrol!!

Did you ever get a new bezel?

Was the stenciling hard? Did you use the paint codes on Pr0k's site?

Where did you get the CPO?

Fantastic job once again, Phet! That cab is gorgeous. I think that Moon Patrol and Mario Bros cabs just look dead sexy when they're restored and the colors pop... and you just happen to have perfect examples of both.

No.

Yes. No, I don't do 'paint codes.'

It's the original, complete with ciggy burns.

Nice job ...Did you put on a clear coat for the final coat...looks like a nice sheen but doesn't look there is any clear on there...which makes it even more impressive since its hard to get a nice even sheen with stencils.

No clear coat, I just waxed and buffed it to a medium shine. Used Turtle Wax Polishing Compound and a damp buffing glove.

You can actually see some of the wax residue on the left side t-molding, at the bend under the CP (it's wiped off now):

Ha, it looks so good it almost looks as if it was photoshopped in front of your garage.
Super clean lines on that thing.
Great Work Shawn!!

Thanks Greg, It does look rather fake out in that harsh light! Kinda looks like it's floating too. I just remembered how sweet your Mario Bros looked outside so I pulled a Mario Lopez and stole your pose.

You need to pay more attention to detail..................j/k Its guys like you that give others hope to do there best but not me. I could never ever make a game that was in the condition you got it and restore it to its current beauty. What a nice nice job. You got talent kid.

Hey thanks man. You'd be surprised what you can do when you lay it all on the line and pull out all the stops. These games have an inner beauty that needs to be revealed. You just need to do your research, open your wallet and take your time.

That's just fucking awesome.

If you want to do me up a Robotron just as nice, I'd buy it.

Excellent job. Part of me wants to do the same to all my cabinets and the other part keeps saying that all the dings and names scratched in the sides give them the real arcade flavor. At this point, I guess I'll keep spending the money on making the elctronics as solid as I can get them and someday (maybe) I'll put that factory shine on the outsides.

I would love to have a collection with beautifully restored games like your Moon Patrol. I can't really afford it, though... I could either have 4 games in OK shape or 1 in very nice shape.

I think that your Frogger came out pretty good! Granted is isn't the level of that Moon Patrol, but that MP looks better than it did new!

Phet, did you use spray paint with the stencils?

The base coat is oil-based Sherman-Williams paint, rolled on. Blue is *Blue Rustoleum Painter's Touch 2x Coverage spray paint, the Yellow is *Yellow Rustoleum Painter's Touch 2x Coverage paint.

*Not sure the exact color names as I am at work, and my little spray cans are home sick.
