Finally finished my Hyperspin Mame setup

ermmmm......mail order roms? clearly you have internet. why didnt you simply use pleasuredome to download them? for future reference you can use pleasuredome to update the set you just bought.

I've never used pleasurdome so I don't know much about them. But I just paid for the media and it was fast and they showed up like in 2 days so it wasn't a big deal.

Ok I've been meaning to answer some questions but between family vacations and a big family emergency I haven't gotten to them. But here you go:

The computer I was running this on in the video is an AMD Athlon II x2 240, 2.8 ghz processor with 1GB ram.

I also have it running on a slower machine which works fairly well but it's slightly more sluggish. It's an AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 2.0 ghz with 512 mb ram.

The games, videos, themes, etc. take approximately 30.3 gig of storage which I believe is less than I told several of you in your PM's. I was thinking it was more and it would be if I had included the CHD files but for my purposes I just didn't care that much about those.

I am also uploading another video that shows it running with the wheel art and I can put a link to that if anyone wants to see it.

EDIT: Here's the link to the new video - http://vimeo.com/15725391

Very nice looking. I am using HyperSpin on my MAME cabinet as well and really like how it works. I do not think it is any more difficult to set up than any of the other front end's and I think it looks the best visually. I have a P4 2.8 GHz processor, 2GB RAM and 1GB video card. It runs everything really well.

I have installed Daphne on my machine but am currently only running 4 games, Cliff Hanger, Dragon's Lair, Dragon's Lair II and Space Ace. I have them so that they are all on the MAME wheel. I figured that most people wouldn't know what Daphne was and they seem to go better in MAME wheel anyway.

Whats everyone using for their controls interface?

Thinking about tinkering with MAME.....I think a ArcadeVGA used to be the standard, is that still the case, or is there a better video card?

Sorry for the OT.

Nice setup - its inspiring me to get MAME going for those games I don't want to devote a full cab to....

I use ArcadeVGA and JPAC and/or IPAC depending on the application.
