This weekend started out really good... I had planned on picking up my Asteroids Deluxe on Saturday... it went well... I'm so thrilled to get an AD in my collection... (thanks for a killer deal SuperBee4406!)

Over the past month I've been going back and forth with this kind gent regarding a Tempest... he had it for sale for a bit at a yard sale... He was asking a fairly high price for the game... (not totally unreasonable, but more than I had in my pocket). Long story short we went back and forth for about 3-4 weeks... I finally bit. The price we ended at was $450.00. For a good clean Tempest... that needs zero work, I'm ok with that price.

So Sunday we went off to get the Tempest... To my surprise the machine was in FANTASTIC shape... all the manuals, extra stickers, even the post cards! The machine was near perfect, next to zero nicks on the artwork, all original serial numbers... The monitor is perfect! The damned thing is almost new!

In 3+ years... I finally picked up a game that was beyond my expectations! Usually when I get a game, I'm always excited but a little bummed at the same time because either this or that needs to be done.

Nice :D

Welcome to the A/D-Tempest owners club :)

Maybe we should start a registry??? :p:p

What? when did you get an a/d and tempest? I thought you had regular asteroids when I was over there. I would have played some tempest if I had seen it... and you allowed me to

Funny... recently I picked up a Golden Tee Fore cabinet that's in fantastic shape. At first I was very pleased with the purchase... but I've come do discover that I wished SOMETHING was wrong with the cabinet so I could "fix" or "restore" it...

... but at least the game itself needed work.

;)

I didn't have them when you were over last time, but you were directly responsible for me getting both of those after you left ;)

Yeah... I can see what you mean... little fixes are really fun and rewarding.

Cosmetic problems are a pain in the rear for me and I'm so frigging picky that I always end up over doing it. I'm definitely getting more forgiving in my collecting years, but this time it was real nice not having to do a darn thing but put it in the game room and use it! Most of my games go in to the holding area (garage) until I can get them spiffed up for the house. I have 4 games in the garage now... and they need to get fixed up before the snow flies!

Yeah, I would love some pics. You are one lucky SOB—I want a 9+ Tempest so bad and that price is awesome.
