I just bought a final lap 2 sit down machine. Each player can race fine, but they can't race against each other. When in demo mode, it says "1 player can race simultaneously". I'm pretty sure it should say 2. I've tried looking in the settings, but I don't see anything. There is a switch on the back for linking cabinets together, but that seems ok also. Any ideas?

I reckon it has the same link system as Suzuka 8 Hours. the switch on the back, try flipping it to the other setting and throwing each side into Test mode.

if you have a "LINK ON 2" or whatever, then you're good.

I fixed this once, then it broke again, the 2nd time it was because the auxiliary harness had wires broken off! so after hardwiring them back where they go, the link worked again. :)

but yes, I think they're identical, both are System 11 boardsets.

I can't find a manual for Final Lap 2, but if you follow the instructions in the Suzuka manual here, it should work the same way: http://arcarc.xmission.com/PDF_Arca...Suzuka_8_Hours_Coca_Cola_Operators_Manual.pdf

good luck. :)

I tried to mess around with that switch, but it didn't seem to do anything. Isn't that switch to link cabinets together? I can't get the first player to link with the second player in my cabinet.

If I recall correctly the Suzuka style link board had ribbon cables that caused us intermittent link issues. (had a four machine unit years ago)

the pins are kind of shitty on the auxiliary harness, they break off for no reason. in our Suzuka they seriously just broke off. check for loose wires floating around, or if the back edges of the pins are broken off.

didn't help matters that whoever the tech was that worked on our Suzuka previously had all those wires in the entirely wrong places. I spent 2 days looking at illegible schematics and trying to match up faded wires that weren't even the same color as the listing in the book, or running continuity checks to the bike harnesses to decipher what #$^&ing wire was what to get them hardwired to the edge connector.

oddly enough, for the 24 or so odd wires I did, I think I got them all right on the first try. lol

there's 3 major points for the link system. the box in the back (the one with the switch), that has connectors running to the link board (probably mounted in the middle of it somewhere), and from the link board to the aux harnesses on the System 11 boards.

try reseating everything on the first 2 parts, see if there's any change. you might get lucky.
