I'm just doing some research on this, I'm curious as to what(if any) other versions of Final Lap would work in this dedicated 2 seater cab?
http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=145669&highlight=final+lap

I'm looking for any and all information that people may have on this, from personal experiences or from trusted sources. Looking to see if I can just swap boards out to change from FL-1 to FL-3 for example, or if there's more to it. If it takes more than just a board swap, I'll be avoiding that but need to know.

-What versions will work?
-Do you need one or two boards to make it work?
-Would it work with one side being FL-1 and the other being FL-3 or FL-R?

As I said, just looking into options as I'll be keeping this game for a long while, and I'm not finding a whole lot of information regarding it.

Thanks for any/all insight on this, it's very much appreciated. And you'd be helping to make this house a better game stop when passing through :D

I did some research on this a while back, and i never could find a manual for final lap 2 or final lap R. My thoughts were that final lap 2 3 and R were upgrade kits for final lap cabs. I could be completely mistaken about that though. I just looked through the www.klov.com database at the listings, and i can tell you from experience that final lap, and final lap 2 both have the same exact pinout - b/c that was the only manual i could find when i added FL2 to a couple of cabs i have here. Having said that, according to klov.com (which is known to be mistaken) - it says final lap has a 2 speed shifter, and final lap 2 has a 4 speed shifter - but all the cabs i've seen have a 2 speed shifter-

is a link to the flyer for FL3 - which was sold as an update 2 FL2. - so both should work in your cab. Final Lap R - http://www.arcadeflyers.com/?page=flyer&db=videodb&id=1631&image=2 says was a new cab - but from looking at the flyer, it appears to be the same shifter as the old one - aka 2 speed.
Now, i have a Final Lap R pcb here that i had hooked up at one time. It used the same harness as my Final Lap 2 pcb did, but the graphics were all goofed up on it, so i haven't fooled with it in ages (plus i only had one of them). I don't recall if the controls worked or not or even if it would coin up, but it does appear to use the same harness as FL2, and it is a standard res game, so i suspect it would work as well, but that's pure speculation based on the above.

Thanks for the info CD, I have found manuals for FL1 & FL2 finally, waiting on those to get here. It would be nice if all versions would work in the dual cab, then I could switch them out once a month or so, to keep it fresh. I'll have to see what the future holds.
