I just picked up a Final Fight PCB that doesn't work right.

About half the time it doesn't come up at all and the other half of the time it comes up and plays blind.

Board is very clean looking.

$35 shipped in the lower 48 states.

He just PM'd me about it.

The custom chip on the C board on this one is a CPS B04.

Also, it seems to come up blind every single time. I think the not coming up blind was the guy's cabinet where I got it from, because I have booted this thing 20 times now and it played blind every single time.

LoL, ok thanks!

Off the top of my head, sounds like a sync. problem. If you know the monitor works well with other CAPCOM boards, then I'd say it's a board problem. Try an different bottom board with the board FF set.

Best of Luck!

Only other Capcom boards I have here are bowling ones. I just grabbed this thing today in a parts raid because I knew a lot of people actually knew how to fix the capcom stuff. Normally I avoid broken jamma boards.

Also, willing to trade this for a working board, open to most titles that don't have weirdo controls.

It reproduced this problem in a jammatized Joust cabinet, a Neo Geo cabinet, a dynamo zback cabinet and a Sega STV Titan cabinet, so I don't think it could be the monitor.

Yup, sounds like a partially working FF board set. CAPCOM BOWLING was relesed right before FF--'88, IIRC. So, CB ought to work ok as a monitor sync. checker.

Yeah, FF & SF boards make good project boards 'cause CAPCOM made Millions of 'em.

so do you guys think that its the bottom (a) board that is the problem? I believe I have a good set of top (b & c) boards.
I've got sound and it plays but the screen characters seem to be cut in half and half is missing?

Won't know what the problem(s) is/are until you trouble shoot the board.

If I had to guess, based upon my exp. with CPS1, I'd say:

45% C board problem.
45% A board problem.
10% B board problem.

In general, both the A and C boards tend to have hi failure rates on CPS1 boards.

Also, FF is not the best parts board for a SF2 board. And vice versa. Another SF2 board is a much better parts board for another SF2 board. Same parts. And SF2 boards are easy to find. In general, just get one that matches your SF2 board and you'll be ok.
