Ok, here's a video of the finished topper with the LED mount and LED kit installed running from a 9volt battery. I'm doing a battery life test right now to see how much life you get from one battery. The LED kit slides over 2 clear acrylic stems so it can be removed, and the mount is optional for those that don't want it. Installing the mount is a peel and stick process. Powering the LED has a few options, i've tested a 3.2v lithium battery that worked but was slightly dimmer, a 9v battery and of course tapping 5v in the game itself. how you power it is up to you 
The LED has about 30 variations on it, you just squeeze it to change the pattern. The one in the video is the one i'm keeping for me

Seems like a lot of times these involved projects turn out to be more than they are worth to the people putting them together.
