Im getting the mortal Kombat te stick soon it comes with happ stuff all around and Cherry switches. I've been looking hard at IL stick on paradise. Any in put from fighter folks on best or great equipment

Typically, people are putting Sanwa JLF's in fighter sticks as well as Sanwa or Seimitsu buttons.

most people view the HAPP/Il joystick as the proper joystick for mk because that's what the cabinets had back in the day. nowadays people tend to prefer the sanwa jlf for fighting games in general. american sticks are a rarity at fighting game tournaments, even the OG players have mostly made the switch to japanese parts.

but the mk te is pretty difficult to mod for japanese parts. you'll need to do some router work to mount the joystick at proper height, and the button holes will need to be modded. if you want to try japanese parts, look for a cheap madcatz TE. sanwa parts right out of the box. every once in a while you can get them for around $100.

If you are sticking to an american stick then the IL stick is fine, I personally prefer the Betson Imperial though.

Is Betson the best wood mount stick I need it to be the same mount layout as the current happ that's in it. As for push buttons are they basically the same

If you've only ever played on American sticks, don't go blindly buying Japanese hardware for your stick. Try it out on someone else's set up first to see if you'd like it. They are vastly different from Happ/IL's for a lot of reasons and in some cases require a bunch of re-learning muscle memory for moves. They are great sticks for sure, but a lot of people who have been using straight American sticks have issues adapting at first...and wind up all pissed off.

Not sure about Betson.

IL is the slightly better stick to go with over Happ. Buttons I tend to go convex over concave. Happ with cherry switches is fine. Seimitsu buttons are what I use on my tournament hardware.

I'm a broken record, but you gotta go with what you're comfortable with. Portable sticks are like the bowling ball for fighting games. You aren't going to get the same exact brand, model, weight and hole drill position as everyone else on your bowling ball...and although someone can recommend a set up for you, only you can eventually decide what works best. :p

I always play MK2 in the arcades and never have used a japanese stick. I will be sticking with USA. Also due to the fact that the wood mounting wouldn't require all the BS to get it to work. Someone suggested the Betson Imperial can't even find that online. and IL seems to be out of stock on paradisearcade.com and I can't find them else where. I will most likely go with IL. As the "happ" that came with it is too loose. I also noticed the square acuwaitor on the IL I assume that is more responsive to the diagonals
