Got a 1943 this summer, plays blind. Go to turn it on a few days later, PS is out. Replace, plays blind again. Recap/fly the 7000, chassis is stuck in shutdown. Hell with it, I have another chassis lying around so I cap and fly that one, too. This evening I install the second chassis in my 10 degree F garage, monitor comes up, board is dead.

Sigh.

That is all.

I thought all of the guys up north didn't turn games on out in there garage during the winter. 10F is probably well outside of the allowed operating temp and pretty sure some guys were saying you could easily ruin games doing so. Not sure how much was paranoia vs. true world of hurt type stuff though...

You need to beat that thing into submission. ;)

Yeah it was 700 degrees in front of the bullet/jet engine/fire breathing heater of death thing I have, and the game was warmed up. Step 10 feet outside that circle of hell though and it immediately drops to the aforementioned 10F.

The game is just being a bitch. That's all. When I feel like spending $40 in kerosene to heat 10 square feet in my garage again I'll take another run at it. Until then, it'll get the finger every time I go into the house.

good point. way to correct that is to run it up top operating or ambient (>32 f) temp with an elec heater with a thermostat in the back set to lowest heat setting for 10-15 mins, then with the heater running turn it on and try again. that will eliminate less than optimal temp as a factor.

Word to the wise - I don't know who did it, because it definitely wasn't me at all, but some nuthead connected 5v to ground instead of the 5v post on the PS when I wasn't looking.
