Ferrari F355 Challenge opponent AI, and game setting discussion

So I just picked up a Ferrari F355 Challenge (!). It rocks.

I've got about ~40 hours on it so far, set some good lap times, beat all the lap times that the machine previously had on it.

I got some questions about the opponent AI, and game settings

1) It seems the opponents speed highly varies based on your speed (lame). On 'easy' difficulty, or 'very hard', they go pretty much the same speed (within 2%). Confirmation on this?

2) Also when the game is on 'easy' it seems like you simply have better tyres, and its harder to TOTALLY lose control of the car. setting 'very hard' the wheel is much more picky, and its much easier to find yourself off track due to a less than perfect steering input. thoughts?

3) I've tried to 'nazo drift', but only for an hour or so. still cant get it down. not sure if i want to learn how, as i know playing the game normally afterwards will seem slow. but any tips as to how to do it?

4) It also seems that if you are approaching a car to pass, and you are driving that extra ~3% faster than them, they will actually move over to let you by! (sometimes). or they will mess up - giving you an opportunity for the pass. confirmation on this? thoughts? what seems to initiate this other than closing speed? position behind them? hard for me to say, not enough time on the machine.

5) During a race, your tyres seem to wear out. I feel like I have a lot less grip during the 2nd half of the race, than the first. confirmation? or am i imagining this?!

6) Any game nuances you have noticed?

7) post your best lap times for each track :)

sounds to me like the game designers did their job!!

A good simulator will have things kind of fade like tire grab as the laps progress..

enjoy!!

got a lot more hours on the game at this point

the AI of the computer is horrible!!! if you are going a bit faster, they WILL move over *sometimes* to let you by. if you are going fast trying to *say* catch 1st and 2nd place, once you get close to the 2nd placeman, somehow, out of thin air, the 4th place guy will magically be up on your rear bumper, pressuring you, no matter how fast you drive - he WILL catch up. stick to your ground and your speed, and he'll sod off, and you'll pass 2nd, and continue the process.

really fun game and simulates driving exceptionally well, aside from the crappy AI

I don't think you're going to get much feedback here as few own the game. It's a great sim-type racer, but sooo expensive to acquire.

Personally, I plan on avoiding exploiting the nazo drift whenever I finally get one of these cabs. It is based on a physics error, so, while it is the fastest way to get around the course, it pretty much wrecks what is the defining characteristic of the game - the realism of driving an F355 in and arcade cab.
